I’ve had a Casio G-Shock Square in my collection since 1989. So I haven’t given a lot of thought to its continued popularity in an individual’s watch collection until lately…as I have not seen as many people proudly posting their model. Could it be dwindling?
It’s a GMW-B5000. I paid 400 something. The clock shop where I bought it had it in their inventory for about a year…so they worked with me. It is really nice. I love its heft…at about 160 grams.
I grew up through the digital watch age when, to paraphrase Douglas Adams, everyone thought they were a “pretty neat idea”.
I remember the first G Shock - the DW-5000C - going on sale; and I remember a teenage me not being able to afford it (and being pissed off by the fact)
These days, I look at digital watches and see them as just a bit naff; a bit hipster-chic

But what do I know? I’m old. Now get off my lawn.
A bright digital watch may just trim a bit of age off your lawn-protecting hide.
I think a lot of people (myself included) don’t get the hype of the square until you try it on. Gshock has a connotation of being hefty and thiccer than shit, but the square wears so nicely. It’s not ostentatious or pretending to be more than it is - a durable mf plastic watch

I voted C, but I can see me getting one at a later date.

I’ve always been of the mind that a square must be represented in one’s collection. BTW, is it raining yet at your house?
The square is still the best.
D…looking to get one with Bluetooth and multiband 6

I’ve got both on this one, but I don’t use the Bluetooth much. I prefer using the buttons as the good Lord intended.

How much was it and what’s the model number

Just started, like juuust at 5:10pm
The GWM5610 is by far my favorite G-Shock.
Love the squares. I want more!

Yeah, I like the classic red border. Plus it omits Bluetooth which I don’t think you need.

Dang!
They lack the features i like in my daily's and are a bit small.
The square is still the best.
I'd have to agree.
There are cool collabs, British Army MudMaster, but the OG square is my fav. Close second is the OG DW6900.
My 5610 is now what I set my other watches to.
