I love fish…on ice, in a tuna can, or lightly breaded and deep-fried from a restaurant. But the act of fishing itself? No…I’m no good at that. Why then do I own a Casio fishing watch?!
The answer — I think fancy watch complications are incredibly-cool!
I mean c’mon…owning a watch that predicts when the fish in your local pond are biting, displaying the phases of the moon…as well as little fishies jumping around on the screen is profoundly-satisfying.
So though I may not be any sort of fisherman, I still live the fishing life through my fancy little watch!

Cue the "No one uses (type) watches for their intended purposes" replies.
Lol.
Mine is probably the slide rule on my Citizen perpetual calendar. I just don't think in slide rule often enough.

How true! Though I have multiplied, divided and calculated knot speed and fuel burn on my Citizen Navihawk…of course only after studying how to do it by watching Youtube videos.
Yeah I’ve got one of these. Haven’t caught any more fish at my desk, so clearly it doesn’t work.
I think I have a few here to share...
Let's start with a watch that will never reach the depths of its intended purpose...the Omega Ultra Deep...I'm barely getting a few feet below the surface of the ocean...not a chance I'll be down at the Mariana Trench...so this will never be down there...
...even though this will be...
Here's another one...
So the above Favre-Leuba Bivouac is designed to measure altitude in mountain climbing...since that is not something I'm likely to be doing anytime soon...an unused complication...
The above Arnold & Son reference provides for a double hemisphere dual moon phase complication...I cannot imagine what I need with the dual hemisphere moonphase information...but the watch is just so cool...
The above O&W Astrochron and Heuer Regatta Timer are just two of many Regatta/Yacht timers that I have no use for in the forseeable future since I have yet to have the financial wherewithal or desire to purchase and race a yacht...
I could keep going, but that's probably enough for now...
Most of the time fishing is not about the fish. Its fun even without catching anything.

Very fair statement indeed.

Touché!

Especially the yacht timer for me…I’d probably be launched overboard…then I would need the Omega.
