The Busy Dial...

Citizen Nighthawk!

I've never been a fan of a busy/complicated dial but there is just something about the Nighthawk that lures me in (as does the Seiko Flightmaster)

I love the concept of the slide rule, not that there is always a big requirement for its use.

I bought this off a friend for a very good price but I do wish I had the version that has "Nighthawk" on the dial. I believe that is the US release but I have a European release... I may be wrong though?

Anyone else for a Nighthawk, Flightmaster or other overly busy dial they love?

Great watch! I love this and the Seiko SNA411. They're doing something right when the dial is so busy, yet the time is so legible. I have contemplated purchasing this so many times. I should really watch a video about utilizing slide rules.

I do wish they made a slightly smaller, but that's just a personal preference. To me, this watch is nearly perfect. Congrats on the purchase!

Well I was lucky that I could try it on before I bought it to make sure it wasn't too big for my 7" wrist. Although it's 42mm dial, the lug to lug is only 47mm (anything over 50mm and I struggle). I have had it for about 6 months and learnt how to use the slide rule after some YouTubing, it's fun to use!

Love the Citizen Nighthawk. I have 2 Titanium ones orange and grey and a couple of others. One of my favourite watchmakers

Love the Nighthawk, it was the first “enthusiast” watch I ever bought, and that was over 10 years ago. Wore it night and day for years, so it’s one of my all time keepers. I’m hoping it’ll still be ticking when when my son is old enough for me to give it to him.

I also picked up a Flightmaster last year, and have absolutely loved that busy dial as well. Surprisingly legible for all that’s going on.

You've confirmed it for me... it is absolutely acceptable to have a Nighthawk AND a Flightmaster! 😉

Lovely idea handing down your first enthusiasts watch to your son 👍

Totally acceptable! My Nighthawk and Flighty make up 2/3 of my Pilot watch “sub-collection” 😎🍻

Boy you've hit a current nerve for me. Ive been warming up a this busy dial, its the Promaster NaviHawk Eco Drive by Citizen. I used to hate these things as being too busy but ive warmed up to it. Like your photo on a steel bracelet it looks so great- nice combo. Ive been on the lookout for a preowned to consider then throw a bracelet on it. No rush, the timing's got to be right for me.

I love my Nighthawk - a where I think it scores highly is that the slide rule doesn’t compromise the legibility. The bracelet is also great (for the price point) and eco-drive is way better than battery quartz. Don’t want to knock Seiko’s Flightmaster as I do like it but I chose to live with the Nighthawk.

Enjoy!

You are right with US vs European version: living in Germany, I bought the US version on Jomashop because I wanted to have Nighthawk being written on it:

There is busy... and then there is BUSY! 😆 but I like the digital world time and the black finish.

Yeah super legible for a busy watch, nice big light hands certainly help

Yeah I miss not having Nighthawk on the dial as its such a cool name and still doesn't even clutter the dial. Maybe one day I will trade in 🤔

Exactly this is so extremely busy, that if you are going full-out, as the movie Tropic Thunder said, when you go all the way, you go: 100%

I don't like big watches, chronographs or busy dials and somehow ended up with this

Superb to write with, especially with a medium nib.

I like the Nightawk but I prefer the Filghtmaster. I’ve been waiting for years for Seiko to create a Solar Flighty… 😑

What a wonderful #citizen
