I'm impressed.

So Glycine as a brand has its ups and downs, as does every brand. I've been looking at the Combat Sub line for a while, first for the great price, and second the variety. I know the brand being owned by Invicta and the Costco partnership rubs people the wrong way, including myself. But I quickly remembered the question, who's wearing the watch? I am! So the final push to buy was the insane price I got at Costco. Yes Costco. This Glycine GL0083 priced at $250! I jump on it.

I haven't taken the watch off since. I'm telling yall the quality is impressive to say the least. Swiss made, Swiss movement, 200 meters, 42mm, sapphire. All the things we want. It's so freaking thin and is a strap monster.

So anyway, anyone worried about getting a watch because of the hate it may get in our weird watch world, you're the one wearing it and it's your money. Buy that watch! Also those who might consider the Glycine Combat sub, go for it! I'm impressed.

A great looking watch. I've always liked the combat sub. So many to choose from! Doesn't bother me at all who the parent company is. I think there is generally quite a lot of love for glycine amongst most enthusiasts?

Great watch indeed! I was also tempted by a combat sub, the bronze one with the blue dial 💙

IMHO Glycine is one of the best entry level Swiss brands available. Invicta ownership does not seem to have any negative effects. I have 3. My combat sub, an Airman GMT and in Inconsure.

Awesome. I think I'm getting a bronze one next!

Glycine is essentially it's own thing. Invicta owning it has almost zero impact on its heritage.

I have an Airman & would definitely own a Combat Sub if I didn't already have 2 divers.

Not buying a Glycine because it’s owned by Invicta is like not buying an Omega because they’re owned by Swatch. It’s ok for a brand to be owned by a “lesser” brand as long as they get to keep their own standards. I assume the worry is that Invicta will start making Glycine reduce their quality. As long as that’s not happening, I don’t see the issue. Plus wear what makes you happy.

The Glycine Combat Sub is a well made watch and remarkably thin for its 200 WR. There are plenty of versions to chose from and it's fairly priced. It's simply a good purchase.

I own an Airman No. 1 myself and if there are any QC problems with it, it's the kind that managed to remain hidden and unnoticeable for several years, which is a nice trick that I wish other brands would adopt.

250$ for a swiss diver? what a great bargain 😍😍. i would do the same

Others hating on a watch is almost an incentive for me to get one...almost.

·

It's an amazing amount of watch for not much money.

Looks even better on your two piece khaki strap!

I bought mine (GL-0270) from Jomashop for about the same price as you 2 or 3 years ago. I'm pleasantly surprised as well. ETA 2824-2 inside, "Swiss" accuracy. I like.😁

I have two - Combat Sub and Double Twelve - and I got them both new at great prices. Really impressed with the quality for the price. They are both really accurate and, as others have commented, the thinness of the Combat Sub was really unexpected and it makes it hug the wrist and easily slip under cuffs. The brand has great heritage and some really interesting model histories (e.g. Airman see book at https://andres55.home.xs4all.nl/glycineairman.pdf ). It’s great that we have Glycine as an affordable Swiss watch entry point (I’m deliberately ignoring Swatch there) and I’d be very surprised if many/any of the haters are or have ever been owners.

Unfortunately, it looks like Costco is out of the Glycine business at least for the time being...
