Marlin gift mistake?
Hi all, I have just purchased this little fella for my partner’s birthday at the end of the month. She isn’t a massive watch person but she does like a California Dial (as do I)
The watch is 34mm, hand wound, no date, this ticks a lot of boxes for me and the California Dial is an added bonus. I quite like the strap personally but I have ordered a couple of Vario straps to spice it up.
I suppose the point I’m working around to is have you ever brought a watch as a gift and then not given it away? 😂
Bloody lucky I didn’t splash out on the Nomos, she definitely wouldn’t have gotten that!
Self control issues aside, I look forward to gifting this lovely little watch, I’m hoping the bubble gum pink Harris Tweed strap works 😑 either way ill be spying 👀 on it from a distance and biding my time (excuse the pun)

That's a fantastic watch that your partner is going to love. Remember, everything one puts out into the universe comes back times 3 and you will be fine. Oh, and get yourself that NOMOS asap!

Thinking about this watch a lot, but I'm afraid to pull the trigger because i heard so many bad things about marlin ( crown falling off, power reserve didnt even last a day etc.) How do you feel about it after a week?
Hey 👋 I only gifted the watch on Sunday, so it has been in the box. It is currently running a little fast, it seems to be gaining 4-5 sec a day, but I only monitor this with my phone. It is a lovely little watch, the wind feels a little stiff with my sausage fingers, it looks fantastic on the Vario straps I got to go with it but my partner likes and has left it on the strap that it came with. I think I paid around £150 for this. I’m happy with the watch but wouldn’t pay much more 👍
This watch is so nice. Respect to Timex. If I see one I will buy. I can’t choose white or black dial so I might get both.
