A chronometer under $1K

I never see any buzz about this watch. It is a COSC chronometer with an 80 hour reserve for under $1000 If you shop the online retailers. From a timekeeping perspective, better than the Tissot. Maybe the look isn’t captivating(I think it looks good), but seems like a bargain. Does this watch sell?

I don't know if the watch sells, but I do like the design, quite a bit, actually. On the other hand I see the certification more as a sales tool.

No clue if it sells. I like Mido and own two. This one is not my cup of tea. Tissot sells two COSC models for just under 1k. They’re not sports models though. I am not 100% sure, but Christopher Ward may sell COSC models for just a few dollars more.

Actually, quite a few models that Mido sells on Jomashop, Watchmaxx, Ashford, etc are chronometer grade. I heard some where before (may have been a review on YouTube) that they offer the most models in that category, for their respective price range. So, if anyone's not fond of that particular model but still want those specs, you're in luck.

Mido is under the Swatch umbrella and for strategic purposes it is not one of their brands that they push in the U.S. though it has a long history of popularity in Latin America.

I've really liked many of the ones I've seen at watch gatherings and I own a vintage one that I rock on a regular basis.

Watch trivia: Mido comes from the Spanish phrase "Yo Mido", " I measure".

I was going to get one, but this particular model fits too big on my wrist. The watch dealer said "it certainly makes a statement" on my wrist. I still do have a fascination with the Mido brand and may get Mido watch in the future.

A doctor just posted this exact watch on WRUW today. Mido is a fantastic brand and as @FlatteryCamp mentioned they sell well in Latin America. I purchased my Mido Ocean Star GMT from WatchMaxx and haven't had an issue yet. 72 hour PR, etc.

While this one is COSC certified it's on the larger diameter side.

Mido was one of the chronographs supplied to the RCAF

Design issue for me. I can always pull the crown out and reset watch every few days. Can’t do anything about bad looks though.

“Better than a Tissot” There are chronometer grade Tissots our there. Idk if there are any in the current catalog, but the Ballade line is one such stunning example.

I do appreciate the use of what i guess to be the Eta C07.621 PM80 movement, being one of the day & date Eta C07.xxx movements.

There’s lots of Mido/ swatch branded chronometers out there for $400-$1k. Recently picked one up for $475 off joma shop. I think most use the Caliber 80 (or Si80) which are regulated by machines so easier to achieve cosc specs. Got the trade off of lower beat rate and (maybe, debated and i don’t know enough about it) more difficulty in servicing

Mido is not sold in the UK either apart from two Swatch group outlet stores which sell discontinued models.

I had to source my Ocean Star tribute grey market.

I have this one and I do like it very much. Too me, it is an unique design. Enjoy your Mido.
