Chose a Vaer over a Hamilton!

I have been wanting a field watch for a while and I really liked the look of the Hamilton khaki field mechanical in white. However, I didn’t like that it only had 50m of water resistance. I also saw that people had issues with the watch fogging up due to humidity. When I finally got to try it on I just didn’t like the feel of the case. Then they raised the price price and I knew I’d never get one new.

Cue the Vaer C5 Field. It has the look I wanted, 100m water resistance, screw down crown, great case finishing for the price point. I know most people hate on quartz but I love that I can pick it up and not worry about fixing the time or winding the movement.

Always good to have options. I have a Hammy Khaki Auto and its served me well.

Great watch. That case looks better proportioned than the long lugs of the Hami. And the USA assembly text is pretty fitting for this 60s american field design. Moreso than the Swiss made line that doubles the price of the khaki field...

If I could've gotten full numerical indices and a whit dial on my C3, I'd be even happier than I am with the stupid black Exploder dial. Vaer definitely put some thought into getting the case to just stay put comfortably. You'd think this would be a main priority for everyone, but apparently not.

That's why I got the Islander white dial field watch.

I love my Vaer S3 Standard. Learned to surf in it and learned it’s close to indestructible, too.

Lovely pick

Enjoy 😉

Amen brother! I just got mine delivered today and I could not be happier.

I believe that is a high quality quartz assembled in Fountain Hills AZ. by Fine Timepiece Solutions like my Islander Ameriquartz Bethpage. I am really digging this field watch!

Another cool brand I'd never heard of, thanks for posting.

And now with the new seiko 5 field watches, there is not point at buying the Hamilton khaki field. 😅

Just to clarify, fogging can occur with ANY watch that isn't filled with inert gas. The conditions that created fogging in a Hamilton will likely result in the same happening in a Vaer. Many people believe internal fogging is always due to poor sealing and that's not usually true. My 200m G-Shock had this happen while shoveling snow on a very cold day.

They are definitely worth checking out. They are a really small team at the moment, but they’re listening to their fans and are releasing good products. Every model has a screw in crown, at least 100m water resistance, and they all have 20mm lug widths.
