It’s basically a mini computer on your wrist and it gives you notifications while digital watches like Casio does not. And I think the main problem is that, you have to keep buying and replace them after about 3-5 years and you could buy a nice Orient Kamasu or a Seiko but the Apple watch cannot be passed down to the next generation. I’m thinking of buying an Apple watch or a smart watch but I will only use it to track my fitness like Strava so I don’t have to take my phone while running. But I will still wear a real watch on my other wrist
I absolutely agree. If you want a reliable watch, get a Seiko but if you want a luxury item then go something above but if it was compares to a Rolls Royce, then it would be a Patek Philippe Grand Complication. Expensive, luxury, hard to service, spare parts are virtually. Impossible to find and it has so much moving parts that it becomes unreliable because it’s so complicated and hard to get it fixed. And a Seiko you could beat the shit out of it and it’ll keep ticking and when you have problems etc you can find these parts like rice because they’re in abundance. It’s also cery popular so anyone can find a tutorial and do it thenself.
So pick your watch based how you use it. I love Seiko because I don’t need to worry breaking it and my rule for my kit is I need to not care if it scratches and super relieable as a tool.
I have 8 watches right now and one on it’s way. 2 belonged to my mom and uncle and a Casio my mom gifted me. 2 Seiko, 1 Nautica, 3 Casio, 1 Alba, 1 SKMEI (Cheap knock off) and I would consider my self as an enthusiast right now because I only wear 2 watches at the same time, sometimes I use my Nautica but I mainly use my Seiko and my Casio. But I’m going to be a collector in a few years.
I like to watch and learn about watches but when I buy a watch, it’s kind of rare
Yeah right? They mod Seiko’s and everyone will be fine but when you mod a Rolex people go bonkers. But when I get a Rolex I want to mod it also. Because I’m not goong to sell that Rolex because it’s not an investment or anything, a daily reliable time piece for decades
The watch and the book combo is super nice. I saw it at a glance and it instantly caught my attention. Great choice!
