commented onWhy is there no contrast on the Casioak?·
SKXmod sell dial faces, hands, and chapter rings (with the indices) for the casioak, so you can have a unique watch with all the contrast you want. For some parts, I think you can even give a colour reference and they'll make a one-off for you.
Yes, 10 seconds would equate to an HR of 180, at which point I think we're putting an ECG on the poor sod.
But I bought it with eyes wide open for the idea of it, and there's no reason for most of the watches on this site to exist, other than that give us pleasure to own and use. I categorise watches by the kind of outfit I'd wear them with, and this does very well indeed in the 'smart casual' category.

Wasn't surprised by the poll results. But for me, it's Quartz.
If the advantage of quartz was just around the superfluous stuff like multiple alarms and barometers and step counters and whatnot, then I'd understand the appeal of autos and handwinders.
But it's not. Quartz is better at the most fundamental function of a watch: keeping time. So quartz is just better.
Currently wearing this. The stainless steel/sapphire case and the silicone strap arrived yesterday from SKXMOD. Only took a few minutes to fit (and a few minutes more to take some of the superfluous text off the dial). I quite fancy an Oceanus too, but I worry that if I had one I'd never wear any of the others again.
