Some decent Swiss brands produce quartz options for under a grand (e.g. Frederique Constant, Mondaine). So while I still go in for the occassional Eco-drive, Solar or Kinetic it is much more rare. Timex produce some absolute belters, such as the "Easy Reader" which at the price is a must-have daily beater for anyone.
We probably all own at least one G-Shock. But lets face it, they are for the trenches not the boardroom. For most people, if you were going on a date or meeting a client or going to a job interview or even meeting another watch enthusiast - the G-Shock would likely not be the play.
Pretty sure they are ALL sold out. I generally agree with others comments to avoid any hype/FOMO on limited editions.
But IMHO this is one of those certain brands that tend to produce good limited stuff that you just cannot get hold of later on. There are a few CW items that are many years old now that I keep searching for and just cannot get.

For me personally a GADA watch must be either hand winding or solar/ eco drive. Most of my watches are quartz and auto. But when it comes to choosing "the one" daily watch it would have to be manual or solar-eco, for me :-)
