It seems like the 1960s started the colorful dials with the Doxa orange Subs and other vibrant dive watch dials. Then the 1970s came along and we had a proliferation of crazy and wild looking dials especially, my favorite, chronographs.
Then we sobered up in the 1980s and 1990s leaving the wild and crazy colors for Swatch watches and other inexpensive plastic watches.
It seems like the 2020s have now rebounded to a proliferation of color...probably in response to the enforced repression we all felt during the pandemic lockdowns.
So here are a variety of colorful dials from my collection...make sure to post some of yours...
And some of the more colorful single colors...

Take another look at vintage watches from the 1930s and 1940s. Major color variety.
Me too not only dials

Oh yeah...Doxas, Jennys and Zodiacs! Love 'em all.
Love this Vostok...I took mine off the bracelet as I am not much of a fan of the Vostok bracelets...I saw another guy have it on this NATO on a WUS forum and had to match it...
Definitely agree with the use of color. These are on my wishlist

That millipede bracelet is wild...just wonder how it wears.
Love that Tiffany blue dial on the Concept.
Thanks for sharing.

From the reviews of people who I have actually conversed with, it's comfortable and breathable. There is one with the NH34 GMT.
Fantastic collection, especially the Cronel with that splendid mosaic. I love colorful dials for the summer and fun to bust out for winter beach vacation. This Seiko is my latest, and a stretch for me, but I love it. Cheers 🍸👏🏻👊🏻

I love that Seiko 5 Honda Super Cub...just makes you want to get outside and do something fun!
Hey I saw that you are also a Bulova Surfboard fan with your wrist shot today...another great choice and super fun watch...
Can’t match what you’ve got. Almost went for that Mido Decompression World timer a couple of times but kept going for safer options. Here are my most colourful:

Excellent selection Matt! Some really cool watches there.
You'll remember you turned me on to that Le Jour...
Also, love that Farer with the compressor style case and internal rotating bezel.

Glad to see someone else with the Le Jour and the Farer is a great watch thanks. I’m trying to be a bit bolder with some of my choices to give me a bit more variety in the collection, but the black dialed divers keep pulling me back.
Fantastic collection of dials!
That Zelos is superb!
I dig that internal compass on the Axwell...have not seen that before. Very cool!
And I am a huge fan of the Second Hour Mandala...great choice of the salmon dial...I also picked up the purple fume dial...

Terrific strap! My word. 💥

That is great!! So funny how certain folks have a lot of the same.
Those Mido's are cool....
Thanks Spike - there are a few more of those in the collection...hehe...
Still waiting to add a vintage Ocean Star to the collection...just missed one at auction last year...I was the underbidder
You have a really cool collection dude! I was pretty surprised to see brands like Alexander Shorokhoff, Glashütte Original and Autodromo there as they arent as ubiquitous. Overall very remarkable watches, especially the Alexander Shorokhoff!
Thanks so much for the kind words...truly appreciated.
I have a few other Shorokhoffs in the collection...
And this Poljot International that Shorokhoff's team does the hand engraving and skeletonization...
Crushing the color category my courageous colleague! 🤘😎
You know I love it bold, but in comparo have a much more humble number of color crazies 😉
Thanks Alan for the kind words.
Thanks for sharing that array of awesomeness!
I see you are also a fan of Benzilla! That Kurono Tokyo green dial is mesmerizing.
I share your love of Zodiac and that reference in particular.
Great colorful choices with the Seikos.
Very cool collection of color!
Great choice! Sugess really does a nice job on homaging the Top Time.
Love the choice of blue strap as well...really makes the dial pop.
Thanks for sharing!
I do love colorful dials but executed in a rather subtle manner. It cannot be too loud. Otherwise, it severely limits the circumstances when and where I can wear the watch. 😉
Agreed...but I have the taste of a sophisticated 8-year old 😉
You would probably like the stealth colorfulness of this Grand Seiko Toge instead...takes having it in direct sunlight to really see the green in that dial...stealthly...

Now that's what I would call sophisticated any which age you choose to be. 😍
Wow, some amazing watches in this thread! @ChronoGuy, thanks for introducing me to your Cronel. Your piece is sweet!

Yes - Cronel was one of the brands from CAMY which was run by Raymond Weil before he launched his eponymous brand.
A bit of color a day will keep the boring Rolex away.
There wasn't a single one I don't desire!
Lots of awesome colorful watches. My collection isn't quite so bold. Other than a few blue dials, I don't have really much color, and would like to change that. I've been really tempted by that green GO PanoMatic Lunar.
That Wakmann! Oh my goodness, it's gorgeous! 😍

Unfortunately it's a redial, which is something I didn't discover until after I had purchased it. One of the pitfalls of buying vintage.

I am not too precious about redials as long as they are done well and respect the original dial design. Regardless, the Wakmann is beautiful and worthy of showing off. 🤝
