The Functional Sweet Spot

I wanted a true “beater” that could also be used in hunting scenarios. Looked at G-Shocks but eventually decided that I like the simplicity of traditional watches without alarms, menus, cluttered dial, etc.

Ended up landing on this. The boxes it checked:

  1. Lightweight

  2. Analog face instead of digital for legibility at a glance

  3. Numeric markers instead of dots for even more legibility, similar to a field watch

  4. Straightforward timing mechanism in the dive-style bezel

  5. 100 meters water resistance

  6. Quartz movement for reliability

  7. Black case to limit reflections as much as possible.

  8. Cheap, so no heartache if damaged

I know I'll end up with one of these in my collection.

MRW200, I assume?

And it is also used by NASA. I agree this model is a true gem!

Wore one of those for 2 years straight when I was racing off road motorbikes.

It never let me down, that's a serious tough watch 💪🏻💪🏻👍🏻

You know it 👍🏻 MRW200H-1BV

Good watch. Tried it on nato straps and using a lug expander. But think I'll put mine back onto the stock plastic strap.

Yeah, the stock strap is just “right” for it. I tried leather today but it’s just okay.

I've owned 3 of these in the past and used them for swimming and dog walking. They're hard to beat at their price point
