Looking For Automatic Movement Not In-House

Is there such a beast of automatic movement that isn’t in house yet parts and servicibility is available locally. Just spent what I thought was a fortune having my Hamilton Khaki King serviced by an authorized service center🥲

I'd wager the Seiko NH35, any modern ETA movement or Miyota 8 and 9 series. Did you get quotes from a watchmaker?

Was going to say, you can pick up any ETA movement relatively inexpensive and most local watch makers should be able to work on it.

No, haven’t started the process.

Service by Hamilton for a standard automatic is £175 here in UK ($200 or so at exchange) not actually that much compared to many other brands.

What do you think a full service should cost ?

Selita movement in my Sinn 104 is keeping time wonderfully and won’t cost an arm and a leg to service in the future and looks good to boot !

Be glad it wasn’t an Omega or Rolex or such. Talk about OUCH! 😉

  • Seiko NH35/36 for a Japanese one
  • ETA 2892-A2 or Sellita SW300 for a swiss movement
