Too good to be true?

I recently fell in love with the JLC brand (thank you Tony Stark and Dr. Strange) and did some eBaying last night when I stumbled across this beauty.

After some reading, I saw multiple outlets around the JLC Club and how most of them now are frankenwatches and hardly the original parts/dials/anything.

This beautiful piece is going for $500. Is it too good to be true? Am I dreaming over a fake? The yellow dial would go perfect in my collection, but is this a pig with JLC lipstick?

Yep, I was just about to say the same. eBay, etsy is flooded with 'refurbished' watches like these. I'm guessing the dials are reprinted ripoffs and the movement is...Habakkuk knows what.

Gorgeous!!!

This is a fake, "Mumbai special" indeed.

This is a fake POS and the price alone should be a BIG BRIGHT RED FLAG!!

The price was the first thing that set off my sirens. That’s why I did my research because $500 for a JLC seemed WAY off. Turns out the JLC Club line was created as a way to get JLC’s into the hands of folks who couldn’t afford the actual price tag, but that was back in the 60’s and 70’s so a lot of the ones listed now are fakes.

Again this is just based on a brief google search. It’s unfortunate because this is a beautiful watch.

The first thing that caught my attention is……. Seriously, a JLC has the date (“17”) misaligned in the window? Day is not well positioned either.

Mumbai special for sure, this is a bad example of a fake/frankenwatch. Wouldnt be surprised to see a russian poljot or vostok movement in there. Recently had a vintage JLC Memovox and vintage watches just dont have dials this clean.

The date window looks weird. Maybe it needs a service

It might be fake but it’s a nice fake.
