Welcome on Paul! I have a question for you. My friend found his dad's old Gruen in a drawer yesterday and it looks exactly like the technos you have and similar to the Doxa. Did those brands back then just buy dials from the same manufacturer?

Good question wish I knew the answer I do know a lot of companies bought movements and cases etc so why not dials then you just put your name or logo on the watch .Tissot in the 1970's with the so called quartz crisis thought they should get on the train and got a movement and case strap from Casio then just added the logo to the LCD screen and one on the strap bet those go for 5 times as much as the equivalent Casio ๐Ÿ˜‚

The answer is yes, any Tom, Dick, or Harry could start a watch company and import parts. Itโ€™s no different to now.
