Fitness trackers???

Hello Crunchers,

Like many of you, I own a fitness tracker (Apple Watch). However, because I almost never use the Apple Watch as I am a watch geek and I like using real watches instead, I decided to get an Oura ring to keep tracking my fitness (at least the basics) while enjoying my timepieces. So far so good.

Which fitness tracker do you use/prefer? How do you use it? Do you have a smart watch on rotation? Just curious about how others go about this.

I still use the Apple Watch some types of fitness trainings (hiking, diving, running…), but that is it.

I use an Apple Watch while working out but the only real benefit I see is the timer to know how much time has passed between sets. In general, I think fitness trackers / pedometers are pretty dumb because you always know how active you were in day. Has anyone ever said, “I didn’t realize I sat on my couch all day?”

I used to use a smartwatch to track various stats during my work out. Then I realized I did nothing with these stats and that was just a pointless novelty, on top of being only vaguely accurate anyway. Now I just keep my phone on the side to time rests and that's all I need really.

Does my mum count? She still tells me to eat my pills and what not. 😛

Workout/PT minimum 5-6 days a week, and walk the dog and/or chase BabyYetti around the yard every day.

That being said have an extremely high ops tempo at work, so don't want some device telling me I need more sleep. I'll sleep when I'm dead 😂.

Only "smart" watch I've owned was a Shotscope for golf, but now that they have released a clip style variant, got rid of that too.

I'd be curious to know how many actually use all of the stats tracked, other than a once in a while, gee that's neat? (I know a few on here so deep dives, or have life threatening physical issues where a smart watch basically helps monitor their issues)

Reason I ask, is a buddy just got off the smartwatch train and into dumb watches, since he was tired of feeling guilt over a device telling him his workouts sucked and he needed more sleep.

Again just curious...no shade/hate. Do y'all pour over the data like I do when analyzing my strokes per hole, drive distance, average carry, greens in regulation? Or is it more of a comfort thing, check occasionally?

I wear Apple Watch to track sleep.

Garmin when hiking/backpacking for tracking and navigating. I always wear a mechanical on other wrist as I don’t fully trust anything on buttery and I’m a watch nerd.

I'm a Garmin user, mostly for heart rate tracking (resting HR especially), sleep tracking and tracking my runs, walks and cycling via GPS. All this sync'd through Garmin Connect and Strava, for me to see historical patterns and trends (e.g. sleep getting poorer, VO2 max improving).

As for my wearing rotation, I'm wearing my smartwatch when I'm mostly at home, and when working out. I'm definitely wearing it nightly before going to sleep and taking it off in the morning when I change to my other watches.

I only use the Apple Watch for workouts but usually use my smart ring (motiv ring) for health tracking … Sunto for hiking … but benefit of having a smart ring is you can also wear ur watches … I can’t stand wearing two watches …

Ours ring is brilliant, fits well with all my watches. Has all the same data and sometimes a lot more.

Always on, doesn't need to charge as often and a full charge is like 20-30 minutes

Sold my expensive smart watches after this and now I can ware any nice watch I want.

I dispise the glitchy, distracting, and annoying charging required fitness gadgets. I have a simple app on my phone to track my walks by GPS.

I've been using #coros watches for the past 5 years and have nothing but positive things to say.

I wear it more than any other watch simply as a result of using it to track my sleep and workouts; trail running, lifting, and hiking mostly.

It's extremely lightweight and comfortable, has one of the longest battery life you can find in a GPS watch, and has all the functionality you could ask for at a very competitive price.

I typically wear my mechanical watches during work or special occasions.

Garmin Vivoactive 4s and I use it only when I'm running. I could use it for long hikes as well but those are always great opportunities to wear my fields and divers.
