Filled up my watchbox ๐Ÿฅณ ๐ŸŽ‰

This is my SOTC for now. I have not sold any watches since getting into this hobby and having 12 watches is more than enough. I might end up gifting/selling a watch to make room for a watch that is on the way.

My taste has changed so much over time that Iโ€™m still not content with my current collection. I would collect differently if i were to start all over again but it has been really fun getting into watch collecting. Do any of you feel the same? Maybe one day i will stop wanting new pieces and just enjoy my collection.

Tastes do change, same as with any hobby (I don't listen to much of the music I did as a 20 year old). But I've not done so badly with my watches. There are a couple I'll pass on to charity to trim it down, and I'll maybe put gifted watches in a different box.

Exactly the same mate! I'm currently in the middle of a collection crisis of the same problem. Really thinking about some of the purchases, and if they were the right move? Should I get rid of some that perhaps could be 'purchase regrets'? Or do I try to make the collection work? It's a bit of a mental tussle!

It feels like an achievement to have a full box. Just looking at them you do go back to the time of when you bought them and what your mindset was like so it can be fun in that way, but I am not wearing a few of my watches anymore because everytime i open my watchbox I always pick something else to wear. Maybe we should get rid of some otherwise they just rot in the watchbox and not given any love. ๐Ÿ˜”

What 3 watches do you own now? Do you still look at watches but just do not have the urge to buy them anymore? Sometimes it feels like the hobby pushes people to keep buying and searching for the next one

Yea I feel the same sometimes.... I've actually taken one out of the watch box and put it back in it's manufacturer's box. Really pondering if I want it out of the collection or not ๐Ÿ˜…

Amazing collection! I love the Serica, Zelos and GS in particular. If you ever feel like you want to give one of those away, DM me. ๐Ÿคฃ

Enough is never enough ๐Ÿ˜‚ Keep going. I am no longer in denial of the completion of my collection. So many interesting watches. So little time

When I first started collecting, I was more limited by finances as well as not knowing what was out there. Itโ€™s hard to let go of a piece and regret it later, but you also donโ€™t want something filling a slot that could otherwise be better appreciated by someone else.

Also thereโ€™s definitely something about the curse of empty slots of a watchbox. Our minds want to fill something empty. So sometimes this means buying just to fill. And other times it means not selling a piece because otherwise the box will be emptier. Before you start getting rid of your collection, itโ€™s not bad to see if your ideal number has changed, whether bigger or smaller.

You are right about wanting to fill up gaps so I might go with 1 in 1 out for now. At the same time I am planning on slowing down and saving up. My ideal watch might not even be released yet so itโ€™s better to take my time and play the long game.

Hahaha thatโ€™s true. I think a true enthusiast will always explore new experiences. There was a period I was interested in vintage, then a period where I wanted quirky watches, and now Iโ€™m really interested in classic dress watches like the calatrava or breguet classique. Maybe in the next few months I might be interested in something different again ๐Ÿ˜…

Whatโ€™s the most worn piece?

Whatโ€™s the most worn piece?

Probably the grand seiko back then. Now my watchbox looks a little different. Since then I bought a pre-owned speedmaster 60th anniversary model which is my current most worn watch.
