Finally got my Pepsi!

Stopped into our local Rolex dealer 2+ years ago. Asked about some watches and was basically brushed off by the salesman. Fast forward about 9 months and the store gets bought by a large chain. New staff, new procedures. I was entered into their database by a new salesman that I had a good rapport with. He actually made me feel like if patient I'd get my Pepsi on Oyster eventually. I wasn't holding my breath but at least I now had a salesperson to deal with.

Over the next year my wife purchased about 15k in jewelry. I would periodically hear from my guy about whatever watches they got in but never what I requested. I would also stop in from time to time but never with any frequency to be annoying.

Fast forward to this weekend, the wife and I are running errands and are all wrapped up and decide to stop by the store seeing we were nearby. We find out my salesman quit. I asked for them to confirm my registry info and set me up with a new salesperson. The lady I dealt with was a delight. She verified everything and sent me an email with her contact info. I asked if my info has our purchase history and it didn't. I told her what we spent this past year and she liked hearing that.

We end up heading out and I get into my car and the phone rings. I think it's the vet confirming our appointment this week but it was my new sales lady. She tells me she has the watch I want and if I come back in it's mine. 30 seconds later we're getting buzzed back in and I bought my first Rolex. Exactly what I wanted and I couldn't be happier.

She had said she had just got in the day before and had not allocated it yet. She didn't want to bring it up in front of her manager as the store was pretty full of customers at the time. After we walked out, she finally chatted to her manager and her manager asked her if she was comfortable offering it to me and the rest is history.

Congrats! Your patience paid off. It gives me confidence that I’ll be getting the call soon too.

I’m currently 2 months in to my ‘journey’ seeking this watch ahah.

Thank you!

Best of luck, patience is the key (and spending money on jewelry didn't hurt).

That sales lady must be pretty new at her profession. She could have milked you easily for a couple of years more. 😜

You should never have to justify that you deserve a Rolex due to your store loyalty. That is so wrong. You know they are taking advantage of you and you're a willing participant. I say fuck Rolex unless I can get it on the grey market. I prefer Christopher Ward watches and their no dealer sales model anyhow.

Wow 2 years! That’s great. Congratulations! Looking forward to hearing your ownership experience later down the road

Congrats 🎉

Gosh there's lots of these recently. In the store, leave the store, called back immediately after leaving. Not ideal.

·

congrats!!! gonna be well worth the wait!

·

congrats... but I will not play this game anymore.

I actually have an explorer that I bought after waiting 1 year. I had no purchase history at my Rolex AD and was not asked to buy anything else in the meantime. They just asked me some questions, wanted to know why I was interested in an explorer and put my on a waiting list.

I eventually called every 6 month to ask for any news and got a call eventually. The explorer is my grail watch and it didn't take that much effort.... but now I am done and prefer to spend my money at other brands. I don't feel confortable with this marketing / sales strategy

Is it just the angle of the photo, or is that cyclops seriously misaligned? Also, is the paint on the GMT hand white? It's supposed to be red...
