Well, I haven't been on a vacation/holiday in a long time but if I ever was on one, I would just keep it simple. I would feel a lot safer if I brought a less expensive watch with me. Like maybe a G-Shock or something that does not have a shiny bracelet strap to it. First off, you have bad people out there looking at your wrists to see if you have anything shiny attached to it. Also, I don't know about you but I like to be out in the water snorkeling and all. I DEFINITELY do not want to have anything shiny around a coral reef where a moray eel can come and bite my wrist off because the eel thought that your shiny and moving watch bracelet was a easy meal (I have heard the horror stories).

Now, as far as a GMT watch under 1K, I have some that I could suggest:

I could go on and on. I mean these are just examples. You have to go and check out what your choice will be due to your style/color/size criteria.

Good luck! 😎

Got this Seiko solar diver when I went on a family holiday to Hawaii years ago. Has been used as a daily beater which includes a motorbike ride adventure from Cairns up to Cape York and back. After a regular good wash it still looks almost like new. Unfortunately my wrist seems to be allergic to standard Seiko bracelets 🤣

I would take way watches I don't own anything super expensive so I wouldn't really worry about it. My most expensive watch is my Zulutime, and it's a GMT, so it's meant for travel.

·

I usually travel with my more affordable watches but it does depend on where I'm going and what I'm planning on doing there but when I go on vacation it's usually just leisurely touristy things so I like to keep it low key. The aragon divemaster gmt starts at $150 and they start at 40mm and up. They also carry other gmt models for not much more.

If I’m taking off for a weekend road trip, I usually wear the Hulk. If it’s a week long trip or more, I’ll usually wear the Bathyscaphe or sometimes the BLNR.

I bought them to wear them. They are comfortable, durable and versatile. I see no reason not to wear something nice.

·

As much I’d like to travel, I would leave my Explorer at home if I was going to bring two watches as Ive already experienced hotel theft with my bulgari perfume 😬. But if it was just a one watch affair without much physical activities I’d bring it. Otherwise I’d bring my steeldive and Baltic Aquascaphe.

For an under 1K GMT Ive also been looking for one and sertled for either the Lorier Hyperion, Traska venturer gmt or Jack mason stratotimer.

·

It really depends on the vacation. Normally, it'll be a digital Timex/Casio and 2 other watches, one for everyday and one for dressier.

Under $1k, you can't go wrong with the Seiko SSK GMT or in the microbrands, Lorier Hydra.

·

This is a watch that I have owned for about 4 years now. The Seiko PADI Solar "Arnie." It's not a GMT but it's a watch that is built to last. Prices are a bit high on it but if you can find one that won't hurt your budget, snag it quick!!!

I mean, again, it's a GMT. Why own a GMT and not travel with it? And again, like I'll wear it to and from the airport, I don't have to necessarily wear it I'm the streets. Like I Went to Columbia last year and I brought a Hamilton (Daily), a Zelos (water activities)and a Casio (at night/clubbing).

Nah i agree just asking lol.

Unless you have on a really expensive/noticable watch like a Rolex or so, then you will be fine. I like to travel with my watches, to me that builds memories with em.
