New Jack Mason Ellum

Not to steal their thunder, but did anyone else catch this preview for the new Jack Mason Ellum? @TimeToDesign gave me a sneak peak of a prototype a couple months back and I have to say, absolutely stunning watch in person. The green linen dial really stands out and for those looking for a more classically designed and size dress watch, this might fit the bill.

Full disclosure, not affiliated in any way, just a fan of the company and awesome folks that run it.

Not stealing any thunder! Better from the community than me, truly. Thank you for the shoutout. Trying to make dress watches a thing this year. 😀

·

I really want that all gold beauty.

·

Wow, those are stunning.

·

Agreed, the guys there are awesome. These are freakin' gorgeous. Have not seen anything like this outside of going vintage in this price point. I will be purchasing both. Thank goodness they're 38mm, maybe I can convince the wife she can wear them as well 😅

Absolutely! Not as small as say a traditional 36mm dress watch, but it is a modest bump into modern specs to appeal to a broader audience that perhaps is not willing to drop to a 36.

Jack Mason always seemed like a Daniel Wellington or a MVMT to me when I worked in the mall and saw them in Nordstrom and places like that. I never gave them any serious thought. Then I saw their Strat-O-Timer and it looks sick. Now I really want one lol.

Beautiful dials. 🤌

I hear you, but different times I suppose. They were generally not on my radar until the last couple years and it has helped running into Peter at meetups.

Did you catch the other photos in the email they sent? It looks sharp

Yes, sir. That was at a time when we were targeting a different audience, but in the last couple of years we have shifted the brand and product to the enthusiast and collector community. The product is naturally following suit in design, quality, and specs!

They're trying to move away from being a fashion watch brand and more of an enthusiast brand. They're certainly doing the right things.

Should have ditched the date. The watch seems very nice but too big and I don't mean w.r.t. a particular wrist. I understand different wrist sizes and preferences but that movement is too small for the case and the date consequently sits too far inside. There seems to be no manual variant of the bigger SW400 but the SW210 has a no date option. Especially when framed like that it should, in my opinion, land in line with the markers and complete the circle. More so on a plain dress watch I think those details are really important as there is little else to draw attention away from it.

To be fair this is such a widespread issue that it has almost become normal... and still a lovely watch all things considered 👍

While I am pro no-date, I get the desire to have a dress watch with a date window, so not entirely a no-go for me as it would be for other styles. This reminds me aesthetically of the GS 271, so I don’t mind the frame. Again, personal preference.

To your point, I get the case vs movement issue, it’s a great observation, but as you said, that is wide spread.

That gold is just nice lookin 🔥

Make linen dials great again!

Me too LOL. Are you familiar with their Design to watch series? Looks like they mentioned another series is coming to cover the Ellum

Thanks for the feedback. I hear you on all points! This is a jumping off point for the platform. The plan is to then expand and iterate in colors, size, designs as we move forward.

Actually yes! I found those videos when they first released their gmt. It's fun to have an "insider view" on the watches

How much will they be ?

How much will they be ?

These will be $949 and just 300 have been made for this first run.

·

Nice - not bad.

Not a fan of a date on a dress watch and prefer the small seconds on a linen dial.

Like these guys...

Love my Strat-o-Timer Pepsi, but how about a full one-tone black bezel and black dial version?

·

I must say, I highly appreciate them not putting 'Jack Mason' on the dial. Beautiful dial, but I'd be lying if the date window wasn't slightly off-putting. A dateless version would be perfect.

I nearly had a heart attack before I realized it had converted the USD price to my local currency (INR), but left the $ sign. 🤣
