It’s a $20,000 hot mess. The dial and bezel clash and the dial in general is chaotic and funky, in a bad way. It feels like the designers said “Just keep adding stuff.”
That being said, I’m ignorant to this watch and know nothing about its history. The design does not speak to me.
I'm a fan of them and on the list , tried several on ,only real problem is I'll need a watch winder to keep it going
That’s the problem with annual calenders. You can wind this one as well. The power reserve will last almost 3 days when wound. Got to remember to wind it every 2/3 days. That’s the problem….
Everose with oyster bracelet is one of my grail watches I probably won't ever own because of the high price, but I could realistically see owning a steel version one day.
Honestly just go with a Date just 41 withflutrd bezel. It’s 1 mm smaller and the sky dweller is a bitch to set. Unless you actually need those functions. It’s just a complicated date just in my mind.

You could have rephrased this entire post as:
I didn’t like it on first impressions, and I chose not to investigate it further.
However, it’s more fitting to just trash it mercilessly, cast aspersions as to its conception, and then admit you know very little about it… stay classy WC.

I really like the Sky Dweller. Fascinating complication setup, an annual calendar without a subdial in sight! Love a GMT and thus love the second time zone, and the command ring is very clever!

I know it's a good power reserve but I rotate quite a lot and my insurance will say it's got to live in the safe if not worn
It's a beautiful watch. You are buying a Rolex with all things that come with it meaning that it might be overpriced but it's the prestige of the watch and the style that you are paying for. I don't think we can talk about "alternatives" but maybe watch around the same price that have a nice look and there might be a few. However, if you can afford it, go for it! Would it be your first Rolex??!
I’d be looking elsewhere to me it looks like a mess. But that’s personal to what I like other points of view are totally respected
It just looks like a ruined datejust to me they took something timeless and threw stuff at it
If you are looking at the complication then someone like jlc will provide all that and more in both style and quality and omega constellation annual calendar provides something that that is both elegant and equal in quality for a great deal less
But way more important is because you are questioning it I don’t think it’s captured your imagination as much as it should have done for any watch let alone such an expensive piece. It should knock your socks off not just tick boxes

Another vote for hot mess.
Not one of their finest designs.
I like it. The bezel ring command setting is quite cool. Dual time, month etc easy to read. The new white gold version on the oyster flex looks great
Oh and Annual calender is a cool function to have on a mechanical watch

This is a great alternative. Though doesn’t have the dual time function
Costs a lot less and is dressier
I love the SkyDweller.

It's my favorite Rolex!
If you like it and want a cheaper alternative, get a datejust. I see the sky dweller as a datejust with complications.

If you want a Sky Dweller, buy a Sky Dweller. Sometimes you just want a hot mess, it’s all about the journey at the end of the day.
