Introducing a brand new style

In 1964 Seiko became the official timekeeper of the Summer Olympics. This marked an important development in how Japanese watchmaking was perceived. From this point, Japanese watch making was internationally acclaimed, and has since then become one of the world's leading nations in watches.

The 1964 Horizon bears references to the history of Japanese design, with simplicity and functionality as its main factors. Being a true versatile watch for both sport and cocktails, the 1964 Horizon is made as a do-it-all watch for any occasion.

Here is a 1964 Seiko:

Other than not having an aversion to text on the dial, I can't see much that they have in common. Vintage Seiko used polished baton indices and sword or dauphine hands to make light play for visibility. The round lume indices are from 1990's divers.

It is easy to be a critic, and I have no criticism of the watch. It is just that your photos and your text are mismatched. This is a tough room.

You're absolutely right. The model you posted and our Horizon has almost nothing in common - besides both being able to show time. We're not referencing a specific watch, but a time in watch history.

Just to be clear, I am saying that time isn't 1964. I know (or at least I think) that the Horizon isn't meant as a homage. (But, I have said too much already...)

This is an Explorer case with a Submariner dial… am I missing something?

I really like the clean white dial version. IMO it would look better on a brown leather strap than on the bracelet.

We like that look too! The watch comes with both a brown strap and a steel bracelet in the pre-order package (offer ends March 31), so you can pick your style for the occasion 🙂
