Who needs anything more?

Two years ago, I picked up this Pro Diver 1953 (34333 Batman version) as my first automatic to try one out on the cheap ($88). I’d heard about the 8926OB, but didn't mind paying a few dollars more to avoid the Submariner clone look (with cyclops, Mercedes hands, etc) as well as the “INVICTA” engraving and polished center links. If I liked it, I planned on getting something nicer.

After wearing it for two years, I’m struggling to find a reason to “upgrade” to anything else. The 1953 has 200m of water resistance, great legibility, an excellent 120-click bezel, a serviceable SS oyster-style bracelet, and an NH35 that runs amazingly well (usually within a second or two per day… it is only 7 seconds off since the time change in the US over three weeks ago!). I’ve found that the vintage diver aesthetic is versatile and works great for most occasions, and the 40/20mm size and black dial make it a strap monster. I have a G-Shock and a Duro for wearing in rough conditions, so the mineral crystal on the Invicta has been fine for the rest of my typical daily wear.

Hmmm.… it looks great, wears great, and keeps great time… so who (other than a real diver that needs good lume) needs anything more?

Great watch! If I didn’t already have 2 pro divers I would’ve bought this a while ago. I actually like this look better than the 9403 and 8926OB that I have

Aside from their ridiculous variants, of which I am admittedly a fan ( #custodesspecial ), Invicta has several VERY solid models.

Aside from the mentioned Pro Diver 1953 lineup (of which all are great looking), the Combats are pretty good too (tho a little bit), and they have an ULTRA affordable jump hour that looks straight out of 1975, minus the bad fashion.

I've noticed a lot of the hate comes from those who haven't seen the non bombastic stuff, or are too scared to try it and like it, or just parrot what talking head of the week says.....because what if the "hawt" horology crowd on the interwebz think they are too derivative, or gaudy, or not Seiko/Citizen/Casio/Orient/Timex/G Shock. And that's what we should strive to emulate.

Because we all know only "true" enthusiasts get "God"-tier until they can move up the ladder and get a Tissot, then a Long-Johns, then a Zenith, then a Tudor, then an Omega, then a Rolex, then an ALS, then a JLC, then finally that VC...👀🤏🏻🫣.

I get where you're coming from. I often think the same about some of my watches (two divers in particular, actually). I don't "need" anything else for sure. But "want" may be a bit of a different story... 😬

The Pro Diver lost me with the Mercedes hands, but the 1953 and Grand Diver are absolute treasures.

Love this model! How is the lume on it?

This watch can possibly be all you need; if this is the budget one can only afford.

I've always wanted to buy this watch and check it out. I didn't know whether this watch had the huge engraving "INVICTA" on the side of the case. That's why I didn't pull the trigger. It'll last you a life time. Wear it with good health. Stay Thirsty My Man 🍻👊🏽

This is my favorite Invicta I own. I picked it up around 20 years ago. I seen one sell on Ebay for $1300 a few months back. I picked it up for around $200 I think.

Well...I'm sure that you are aware that collecting or owning watches has nothing to do with needs.

The lume is poor - like the standard Pro Diver.

On Easter, I met a gentleman wearing an Omega Speedmaster. I had never seen one in the flesh and he had never seen an Invicta in the flesh. He was very complimentary of my watch and was shocked at the price, which he noted was half of what he paid for his beloved SKX007 in 1997.
