I've rebought several, but i've only had seller's remorse once, i decided to part ways with an Air King 116900 just before the price hike ;) - well, not really, i know i wouldn't feel comfortable wearing a piece that has 5 digit value.
Anyway the rebuys. It all started with a Speedmaster. I had the previous gen hesalite and i really liked the watch, but then i got the chance to trade it 1:1 to a brand new sapphire sandwich (previous gen) and i jumped instantly. The bad thing was that it was not nearly as nice as the hesalite version in my books. So i soon sold the sapphire sandwich. At the time the new 3861 version was introduced but i felt like i did not want to pay the price, plus i never have grown to like the new bracelet. I always buy on bracelet.
Then some time passed and i had the opportunity to get the 3861 but with cordura strap. The price was right and i thought what the hell, i can get the bracelet later if needed (and i seriously don't want the new 1479 bracelet). Now just sporting it on an Uncle Seiko President. Instant vintage. Thinking of getting the Forstner version, i hear they're nicer.
Another rebuys - Breitling Avenger 45 Night Mission GMT - sold it to fund another purchase, missed it, got it back, then remembered why i sold it and sold it again. It's very damn beautiful watch that suits me perfectly, the size is just not right. If only they made a 43mm version it would be perfect.
Seiko 'MM200' divers (the one introduced in 2018) i've rebought 2 of them. The basic black SPB077, sold it because "i have too many black Seiko divers", rebought when i decided to collect all 6 regular versions of the MM200. Sold again when i realized i'm not the type of a watch collector who has many versions of the same watch... The other version i've had twice is the PADI MM200 SPB087. First time i bought it because i found one brand new from AD 40% off and it felt like a bargain. Sold it for the same reason i sold the rest of the MM200's. The second time i bought it because a) i did not have any dive watches left b) i still found one brand new from AD 40% off... c) I wanted a Seiko diver. I was thinking i've never had a Turtle. Maybe i should get one of them King Turtles? Beautiful watch but when i tried it on it just did not fit my wrist. Other option was the newer MM200, SPB187 and the like. Very beautiful again, but i did not feel that the new one is on par with the previous release. Case, sure, but dial, hands and rehaut, i just liked the ones on the previous better. I was also contemplating on the new SLA055/057 but did not connect with that either.
Here's the SPB087. SPB077 is all black and comes on a bracelet. I do have a bracelet still left for this, but it's summer now.
Not ready yet to go full Astron. Although the new model ticks quite many boxes - if only it didn’t have an offset date..
So to me an exit watch has to be a perfect as watch. Accurate, reliable, wearable. Well it also has to be pretty.
