The search begins!

Its official! My baby boy is coming in May! I have my name down at a local AD for an Explorer and was just going to use that watch to commemorate the occasion. But after seeing @UnholiestJedi’s post on Omega watches, I’ve had a change of heart.

I have the Omega De Ville Prestige ref 4532.31.00 which was the watch that got me into this hobby. This will one day go to my first born daughter.

Next I have the Omega Speedmaster Professional ref 310.32.42.50.01.001 (currently my favorite watch) that I plan to give to my son one day.

So I thought it only makes sense to get another Omega to commemorate my third little one. I’m thinking of a Seamaster this time, but torn between the diver 300 or AT. I have 5 months to decide! Decisions decisions.

cool!

Congratulations on the new baby boy!

Oh man, tough decision. I’d probably go with an AT Shades. Safe dimensions for handing down.

I should probably be searching for a name before I search for a watch.. but priorities 🙃

Blue denim railmaster

Check out the Seamaster 300. No HEV, slightly smaller, updated strap with on the fly adjustment and a killer movement. The summer blue one is gorgeous. I have the dark blue and it goes everywhere. The most versatile watch I have.

Don’t name him this…

Blue denim railmaster

A railmaster is definitely going to be in my collection one day

·

Chose this over the SMP, bit dearer but more subtle. Absolutely love it.

Got an Aqua Terra (quartz) too, & that's probably my most worn watch - which speaks for itself.

Congratulations!

A blue Constellation Globemaster would round out that set nicely.

Definitely, a Seamaster will “complete” the trio. But really, just go to a well stocked AD and spend some time there (over multiple trips, even). The right watch will be apparent to you.

But if you really want the advice of randos on the internet 😉, maybe the Seamaster Heritage line is the way to go? The 75th anniversary edition is pretty special, as is the Goldbronze edition.

I’d also not buy any watch now. Between now and Watches & Wonders in April, Omega will announce a bunch of new stuff. I’d wait for W&W and see what comes out. If nothing is announced that you like better than something already out, great: you’ll have a lot more peace of mind.

First, congratulations! Second, the Omega De Ville Prestige ref 4532.31.00 is an absolutely stunning piece. Lucky girl. And third, I wouldn't rule out Omega's Constellation line. Specifically, the Globemaster with the pie pan dial.

The irony? I don't own one yet myself. I'm an Omega fan, with three Speedmaster's, three DeVille's, four Seamaster's and three more vintage models.

But, given the 'tradition' of your existing two watches, a classic Omega model with the pie pan dial seems a perfect fit / compliment.

Congratulations! Get something also for the wife, please 😉

Of course. I actually considered getting her a Cartier Tank, but I don’t think she will wear it. And I would. And then it would be like I got myself 2 watches lol. But it will be some sort of jewelry for her for sure!

Thanks for the tip! Will def wait for w&w before I pull the trigger!

With family, work, and a small side business, I hardly ever get to go to any ADs. So I usually browse YouTube and then if it’s something I like or am considering. I’ll cast it out to WC to get everyone’s opinion. Y’all are my watch life line lol

Love the idea of a 3rd Omega, but I'm also a huge Omega fan. Personally, I think the AT would fit your collection a bit better than the SMP, BUT I don't like to buy watches just to fill a role in the collection. I buy the watches that I like regardless of how much overlap there is with the other watches in my collection.

Good man, yourself! 👍

My speedy is my favourite watch and will be given to my eldest son, too.

I love my 41mm AT and there’s heaps of dial options. The bracelet doesn’t taper, but it’s still pretty comfortable and the AT is a strap monster anyway. You could look at the 38mm too (but the 41 is better ;P)

I like the diver 300 but it always just feels a smidge to long lug-to-lug when it’s on my wrist. My advice - go be a nuisance at the AD for a while.

·

Congrats! I vote for the AT!

·

AT would be a good choice and it's not too far from your current collection but if you wanted to experience a more rugged diver and diversify your collection then 300.

Not saying the AT can't do diving (it can with 150m WR) but its more polished and "dresser" vs the diver.

I was also looking at the AT small seconds. But the blue variant only comes with the rubber strap. Was hoping for a bracelet.

I would definitely get a 007! Congrats!

Congrats! I love Omega. I have a Planet Ocean and would love to get a Moonwatch and Diver 300M one day. I've been eyeing this one for a while. https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/watch-omega-seamaster-diver-300m-co-axial-master-chronometer-42-mm-21032422003002
