They are phenomenal in the metal. Nicolas who brought the company back was a watchmaker at Rolex before restarting his ancestor, Edwin Fears watch firm.
Sizing is really flexible. The do all the little details internally well. I’m biased as an owner but the attention to detail from the dials, handsets, casework and bracelet is really impressive. From the outside looking at them they look overpriced but they are well done.
They are also transparent. You can see where they source each piece of the watches and where they are made on their website.
Buy one. If you like it you may answer the question yourself. If you don't, flip it and you'll be able to say that you got rid of your Fears. It was all just a phase.

Design. They make some beautiful watches.
It scares people with phobias.

It does seem an odd name. I assume it’s the founder’s/owner’s, otherwise, why? And yes, I obviously haven’t Googled it
You like it.
Isn’t that the best reason for owning any watch?

Yes, it's the family name. Originally founded in the mid 1800s and ran until the 1970s and then started back up again by a descendant not long ago.
I was always curious about the brand - their story and design language is interesting.
I got hands with the range in at Time and Tide around the start of the year and they're pretty impressive.
Great dials and hand-set, good proportions and excellent quality. The hand painted motif within the clasp is a very cool addition too.
If more formal, dressy watches are your thing I reckon they'd make a great daily.
