Should I let my watches run out of power?!

Hi everyone!

I'm quite new to the watch game and I was wondering if I should sometimes let my watches run out of power? For now I have only two so it's not a matter of practicality, I can keep both of them winded at all times, but should I? Or should I sometimes let them rest a bit?!

I usually let them run and if it stops I just wind them up when I use them, it’s nice to see them with the right time and winded up already though…

Mine sit patiently in the box. There's no benefit to them constantly running unless you have a moonphase or perpetual calendar that you don't want to reset. So long as they get some run time every now and then there's nothing to worry about.

Mechanical? Let them rest. Running while not being used is like idling your car overnight.

Quartz? Let them run. Pulling the crown exposes the movement to potential moisture ingress & oxidization of the battery.

I have two on a winder now, one with a small crown and the other with large crown guards. If I weren't getting old enough to fart dust, I wouldn't own a winder.

But my eyes aren't what they used to be and fat fingers+arthritis is a bitch.

Do you let your car idle, while you aren't driving?

Of course you let it run out of power. I got watches that are 20 years old and have never been serviced. Just because i wear them a few days a year, and not wearing them down with a winder.

A Watch Winder is for people that are rich, and have Perpetual Calendar Watches. ;)
