The Twenty Teens are my favorite Seiko era

The Twenty-Teens are definitely my favorite era of Seiko. I could have included a couple more in this shot (SNK809,Sumo…), but I don’t have that much patience this morning. This crappy shot was hard enough.

I just think Seiko was a peak then. So many timeless designs, the prices were great, some aspects of the quality were better than they are now…

I’ve been selling off some modern ones and buying some from this timeframe this year and I’m much happier with my collection now. Luckily, I’ve avoided paying the inflated prices of today one them barring one that I just had to have and even then I didn’t get gouged too bad. Collecting from this timeframe is still a minefield, but the bargains are still out there.

Top Row - SRPA21 PADI Turtle, SNA411 Flightmaster

Bottom Row - SKX781 First Gen Monster, SARB033, SKX009

Something definitely changed after they started putting 'prospex' on the dial imo

Still love seiko, and have plenty of them, but they're not as cheap and cheerful as they used to be.

Aren't some of these earlier than the 20 teens?

Nope. Oldest is 2018.

I had a Gen. 1 monster a lot earlier than 2018. That's what prompted me to ask.

Oh you said earlier. I thought you said later. That monster is 2012. I think they made that one for 12 years.

The Gen. 1 Monster came out in the early 2000's. I had a black and orange. The Knight was another favorite of mine from back in the day.

This one was made in 2012. One of the last. Close enough.

Yup-that was probably the best of the group.

I love them all equally lol. (But I do wear the Monster second most of them and it probably makes me smile the most.)

My first automatic wristwatch thät I bought for myself was a 2010s Seiko 5 – the old SNZH53K "Fifty-Five Fathoms". I still have thät watch & will never (purposefully) get rid of it.

I was never a huge Seiko fan (I've admired many models büt not purchased them), büt whenever Seiko redesigned thät '5' logo from the classic shield to the thät sideways-shifty thing, I started to lose (a lot of) interest. Nowadays I get much more interested in third-party companies/microbrands using Seiko movements thän anything officially in Seiko's catalog.

Yep. Good versions of the new 5 are much fewer and rather between.
