I was on a trans-Pacific flight a few days ago and the man directly across the aisle was wearing this #paneraisubmersible. I’m not a huge fan of the Panerai aesthetic, but I have to admit that it looked much better on wrist than I thought by looking at online photos. I was actually impressed and I think my opinion of Panerai may be changing!
What watch/brand did you change your opinion of when you actually saw it on wrist and in-person?

My opinion of Panerai hasn’t changed. It was love at first sight for me and I can’t get enough of them. I took my son watch shopping (well mostly window shopping) late last year and after trips to Rolex, Breitling, Tudor, Grand Seiko and even Swatch, it was a Submersible that he told me I should buy. Someday I told him.
I have had a similar experience with Panerai. They can look great in the right circumstances for the right person. That person is not me, however.
I had the opposite experience with the #cartiersantos. The watch always looked too elegant for my taste, but that opinion changed when I tried one on at an AD in a Qatari mall. I found the watch to be very well finished and very stylish, but with a lot more versatility than I imagined.

I am lucky enough to own a Radiomir and a Luminor Marina, I have been a Panerai nut since the late 80s. My next purchase is the submersible as I want the Trio. Most people I think when they see a Panerai for the first time in the wild suddenly realise they are a fcuking cool watch with a great history.
I didn't like Pams when I first came across them online. Didn't care for the cushion case and hated the huge crown guard. Then, when I saw them in the jeweler's case, I hated them even more! 😜
