Good morning Crunchers ☕️ I remember so vividly watching action movies with Schwarzenegger and Stallone in the 80s. Going to the summer cinema with my cousins and our dads was a kind of ritual in August! Summer cinemas in Greece are fully open so your roof is the sky and the stars and the smell of popcorn creates a cozy atmosphere! It was during around that period that I got the watch virus and was never cured since! Many of my watches are linked to those childhood memories and the cinema heroes of the 80s. I see some times people wondering here why we buy Casios (especially) and Seikos. I guess this is your answer! Memories my friends! Reviving nice childhood memories! So what else than my Seiko Arnie today! Rain? Piece of cake 😎. Have a wonderful day my friends

Thanks so much Danilo! This particular cinema in the photo is my favorite. Cine Thision operates since 1935 and is situated right underneath the Acropolis Hill. You can see the Parthenon right from your chair while watching your movie and drinking your beer. Have a wonderful day my friend!

Thank you very much Ritchie 🤝

Love the photos mate, especially the third one. It’s awesome because you can barely see the crystal above the dial. Well done sir🫡 and the watch is such a movie icon! Have a nice day mate!

Thank you very much Adrian! I appreciate your kind comments 🤝

I wanted to show the dial without reflection and I am happy it worked. The angle of the camera and the depth of the case helped a lot.

Have a good one too my friend!

Thank you my friend! In the end who we are is based on our childhood memories. I am a romantic kid of the 80’s and I like to go hide back in those days from time to time! These were fun and simpler days as Chris rightly pointed out @DAF_punk

Our inner kid will never seize to exist

Enjoy your day 🙏

Loving the Arnie Kostas! I bet I saw Predator 20 times as a kid. I never even noticed the watch. I was too busy ogling the weaponry!!! LOL That outdoor theatre is something. Wis we had those here.

I caught the end of Kindergarten Cop the other evening, and it looked as if Arnold was wearing one of those lighter dialed Casio ana-digis, like the AMW. Later that night, Crocodile Dundee 2 was on, and I think the photographer who gets killed in the beginning was wearing a Seiko Turtle. Some movie/watch nerd needs to make a database of old movies and the watches the characters wear. 😂

Thanks a lot Steve! I remember even now this scene and me asking my dad what watch Arnold was wearing. I was astonished by the fact that this was the watch of a warrior but I didn't find out which model it was until a few years later when I saw one of my biggest cousins wearing one. About the open air cinemas I know it is a pity that you cannot find them in every country. I guess it is a weather thing. I know for sure that we have some still in Greece (although they start closing down because big companies buy the land nowadays), Italy and France has a few as well. Enjoy your day!

Looks like a 36mm on big Arnie’s wrist, lol😆

Amazing watch friend

Huge fan of Arnie myself and lm happy enough that I was raised on 80s and 90s action movies 🎬

Nice Arnie Kostas! Your drive in sounds a lot better than the one we went to during high-school!

Thank you very much Tony! I am sure there are so many things you had in US that we were dreaming of having in Greece during high school. It was kind of cool though and the highlight of our summer going to open cinemas! Have a nice day my friend

Great looking Seiko Kostas. Like the red accents on the pushers. Have a wonderful evening my friend.

What a great introduction to your memories of watch collecting and visiting the open air cinema with your dad and cousins. What a difference to the cinema experience I remember as a child, in a run down film house which had seen better days. It's official name was The Ritz, but I think it was better suited to the name it earned.. The Flea Pit.

Your Arnie is quite a watch Kostas, it looks great.

Whilst we are on the subject of films, I finally got round to watching The Last Samurai, this evening. You may remember, you recommended it to me some time back 😎

Thank you very much John! Don't worry we had our fair share of Flea Pits during my childhood and puberty days too. It is just that open air cinemas were open from May-June until end of September so their owners were making sure they looked nice and clean so they can make a living during the summer period. These were mostly family oriented cinemas, they were selling popcorn, ice cream, hot dogs, crisps and beer so they were very welcoming for thursty dads and ice cream eating little monsters 😂! It is still the same so it always brings back nice memories when visiting an open air cinema with my own family now.

I am looking forward to hearing your feedback and impressions about the Last Samurai 😀

Have a great day my friend!
