A suspicious Vulcain

I bought this watch very cheap on Catawiki. The add claimed "a very rare Vulcain from the 50s". The seller was from Turkey which is often (I learned this in this process) suspicious...

So yeah, there are not only successes in our watch "journey", and this one seems to be a fake.

I sent the pictures to Vulcain and they would not know all the references. I guess that it's a nice way to tell me my truth! But the watch is still fun...

What do you think? 🤨

How it is a fake watch? Do you know why ?

I am not sure but I have never found this model online. Vulcain told me that the archives from those years were not digitalized but they sent me a catalog from the oldest references and it was not there. They told me to contact Antiquorum to be sure. I contact Watch Crunch before 😉

Similar, but not exact. Says it's from the '60's and yours looks squarely from the '70's, so maybe an updated version?

Yes! This second one would be the same, without the Vulcain on the case back. It was actually from the 60s in the add, I just checked. How could I know if it is a real one or not?

By the way, thank you!!

Very cheap price,Catawiki, Turkish seller.

Damn the red flags!! Full steam ahead!!

Live and learn.

Have you looked at the movement? That will tell you more than the case/dial.

Okay, they have great ideas but the best option is to look inside. Take a look to the movement as someone suggested in the comment section too and you'll be fixed 🙌

Please post a pic of the movement when you remove the case back. Be interesting to see what's in there.

I will. For now here is the picture that was on Catawiki...

That's to bad if it's fake, looks beautiful.. I would have no clue. I hope you are able to get some answers

This is like a pretty girl you kinda think might have had a fair bit of work done and hiding something … and you not quite sure… but you totally do anyway 😏

Interesting, it looks just like the same movement as on the other one I posted for you, but yours is unbranded. The other one says Vulcain on it. Hmmm...

I feel like it would be easier to verify if it were from one of Vulcain's more well-known lines, like their alarm watch. There's a lot of things to be wary of with this posting, however.
