In awe to touch a piece of history!

A client came in selling a Junghans which he received in Berlin after the fall of the Berlin wall. Unsure the hands it has passed but it definitely has some history.

Heritage to German engineering, still running like a Porsche even after all these years manually wound. Saw a recent restoration in watch revival of a similar model I believe.

Wow. Is that the lightning SS symbol?

Looks to be, though as far as I know Junghans were primarily Luftwaffe watches 🤔 not sure if they had the SS in the Luftwaffe.

Though the original owner might've not been an airman.

I have a feeling it has changed many hands

Part of the thrill to know where and what it's been through.

Incredible!

Interesting indeed. The fact that it seems to be a pure chrono with no time function, and since it is marked with the symbol of the SS… it could be that it belonged to an artillery officier of the Warren SS (military branch of the SS). Just making supposition here… Definitely a piece of history.

It would probably be something you wouldn’t want to keep because of your conscience about it’s provinence and how it may have been acquired possibly off a dead soldier . I would donate it to a museum so people never forget the madness that occurred in 39 to 45.

I believe it's now past the scars of war and more to preserve the history and story that comes along.

I would love to find out more about the watches history and seeing people's knowledge here is part of that.

I don't see the value in donating it rather than showing it and appreciating what it's worth to military and watch collectors alike. (Many such examples exist)

Not sure if the caseback 'Kiel' is of the city (possibly) or a name all be it a very common one. This sharing as far as I believe is worth more than anything and part of why I join such discourse.

Absolutely no judgement, just how I would see that watch . Love for german manufacturers and their excellent watches. 🙂

It's a stopwatch...
