As I get older I'm finding working to service level a bit of a struggle. May I ask if you have a recommendation for servicing?
Thank you if you get chance to let me know. 👍
I am not sure I can consciously recommend servicing, not for cheapish vintage watches like this anyway. This particular service cost me £223, which is way more than the watch is worth, and certainly way more than I paid for the joblot it was a part of. Besides, servicing cannot magically roll the years back. So why did I do it? Because I felt this was worth rescuing, and I am using the word "worth" here in a very subjective way. I am also grateful of having a watchmaking shop within walking distance from home, so this is also a use-it-or-lose-it scenario.

Thank you Balthazar for your concise reply. I completely agree and admire your philosophy about the high street.
At the moment I'm just basically retiring any defunct vintage watch I have if I can't relatively simply get to the bottom of the problem. I'm okay with that. I mean they are still nice to handle and look at perhaps weirdly!
