Omega Speedmaster Apollo-Soyuz. What are your thoughts on meteorite dials?

In 1975, NASA and the Soviet Union's space agency collaborated on the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, which marked the first joint space mission between the two superpowers. To commemorate the event, Omega created a special edition of the Speedmaster, limited to 1975 pieces. The dial of this limited edition watch features a distinct pattern of etched lines that resemble a topographic map. That texture matches perfectly with our Two-Stitch Coal strap. The meteorite fragment used for the dial is believed to be over 4 billion years old and is estimated to have traveled through space for millions of years before landing on Earth.

Have any of you had the chance to see one of these watches in person? What are your thoughts on meteorite dials?

Have not seen one in person but looks fantastic in print.

my gawd! that looks FANTASTIC!! 😍

·

Never seen in-person, but damn if that doesn't scream "Buy me!"

I like meteorite dials, but my general feeling is that if I were buying a watch for the dial (meteorite, GS, anOrdain, etc) then I want a three hander and not something that clutters it up with sub dials.

I got a metiorite dial from Selten's Kickstarter. I love it, and the dial is fantastic. I bet the material looks even better when done by Omega.

Just keep in mind, metiorite isn't as rare as some people think. There are some fashion watch brands selling metiorite watches for staggering amounts claiming it's super rare. It's not (but darn if it isn't neat)!

This watch is a stunner. I considered it but I purchased the classic Moonwatch, more legible.
