Piaget. What do you know about their watches and movements?

Today I got the opportunity to look at some watches from Piaget.

Needless to say that I was impressed. The watches are extremly well finished, movements are super slim and seem to be very innovative (rotor around the dial of this example of the Altiplano.

Any experiences with this brand and their watches?

Only that I'm impressed every time I check them out. Even the base Altiplanos are beautifully made.

They make some of the most technically impressive watches while also making some cool steel watches like the Polo.

Count me as another fan of the Polo. Bit out of my price range, but if I could afford it, I would seriously consider that as my everyday wear.

Maybe I'd change my mind if I saw one in person, but I'm just not feeling it.  I have a thing where I need the watch to give me the time in an obvious way, and I dislike things that overly distract from that.  I don't like skeleton dials or small dials to let me see the gears.  Yes, I find the movement fascinating and love looking at it, but not from the front.  I don't mind a jazzy dial, but there comes a point where you're taking away from the watch's ability to do its main job, and I don't like that.

I've dodged the question in a way, but I just can't approve of a watch that degrades it's time-telling ability to this degree just so it can show off.

Back in the day - 70's & 80's, Piaget were the BOMB! They were known for their thin movements and thin integrated precious metal watches. The Piaget Polo was their entry in the new (at the time) craze of multi metal 2-tone luxury sport watches. Their Altiplano held the title of the thinnest swiss watch until Bulgari came out with the Octo Finissimo

Gorgeous watch on the wrist, try it out 😉

High quality brand, in the same group as Cartier. Piaget position themselves a step up from Cartier, says it all.

Underrated brand. Very happy with the Polo S. When the time comes to acquire a leather strap watch, would consider the Piaget Altiplano or a Vacheron Constantin
