Rolex Cellini Prince

The Rolex Cellini line of dress watches doesn't enjoy anywhere near the same level of interest as their various tool watches. I can understand why, but as someone who appreciates dress watches as much as tool watches, I find it to be somewhat unfortunate. The Cellini line has included some very appealing pieces which I feel are under appreciated.

I had been on the hunt for a Cellini Time in rose gold with a black dial, a watch that Rolex had discontinued in 2022. I happened to mention this to a friend of mine, who told me that he happened to have a Cellini Prince in his collection. Shortly after I had developed an interest in watches, I had seen a Cellini Prince on a Rolex Facebook group and fell in love with it, so when I discovered that he had one, I asked if he'd be willing to sell. Long story short, I'm now the proud owner of a rose gold Cellini Prince, and am no longer searching for a Cellini Time.

The Cellini Prince was offered from 2005 through 2015, and as far as I know is the only Rolex model to feature a display case back. It was available in 4 different variants, and while each shared the same basic rectangular shape with the two sub dials, each of the 4 models was unique in its design. I like them all, but there is something about the combination of black and gold that appeals to me, making this "Sunrise Rose" variant my personal favorite.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of information about the Cellini Prince available online, but I did find a great post from grail-watch.com which provides background information for anyone interested in learning more about these beautiful models from the recent past.

Beautiful watch! I have always wanted a Cellini model. This is a classic stunner

The evolutionary ending of the Capone watch! I like these Cellinis far more than the dress watch in a sport case models.

Great looking watch!

I've always loved the Prince, could never find the one for me. The vintage pieces are way too small, while the Cellini versions are more appropriately sized but only available in precious metals.

That’s awesome. Those are absolutely gorgeous. Congrats.

Awesome watch.

Congratulations on the find. One of my favourite Rolex watches.

Love the Cellini Prince, all four of them. My Rolex grail is the King Midas!!! One day...

...one day.

That’s very special, I really want to get a white gold one one day ( the 5443 “Radio City” ideally). I think these are really underappreciated at the moment and have a feeling they will be very sought after in a few years when collectors realise that they can get a discontinued, precious metal Rolex at less than MRSP with a beautiful, visible, machine-turned unique movement! What’s not to like? Congratulations.

Congratulations on such a find! The Prince is a stunner. I was always a fan of the Danaos and hope to land one in the near future.

Thank you! I'm still thrilled with it, even though I have very few opportunities to wear it. Best of luck on finding a great deal on a Danaos.

stunning!

I have never seen this Rolex. I love it. Case somewhat resembles a Cartier tank, but this watch is miles better than the simple reverso (duo face is awesome though).

Thanks. I like watches that are a bit out of the ordinary, and this is certainly that. The Reverso Duoface is one that I'd like to add to my collection at some point, but with the JLC price increases over the last year or so, it's becoming harder and harder to justify. I have a Reverso Squadra Hometime, but it doesn't have the same elegance as the classic Reverso. I'm a fan of Cartier designs, and the Tank is one of my favorites, especially the Basculante.

Beautiful. I wasn't aware of that model. You have unique taste, which is refreshing when most collectors own the same models as everyone else.

Friend, one more thing: after conversing with you, I watched this video tonight. Your watch was discussed. It was revealed your watch was the first Rolex with a display back.
