SOTC: Seiko Mods, a Seiko, and a Nomos

Hi all!

I'm new here so I figured I'd share a quick SOTC. I'm pretty darn happy with my collection so far, but we'll see what 2022 brings!

From Left to Right:

  1. My first build - built using SKX007 mod parts, it's sort of a frankenwatch that I think works well, and I still have a blast wearing it.
  2. My newest watch, Seiko Spb227 aka Sharp Edge with red dial. I liked the first batch of watches in the sharp edge collection, but the red dial was the one that got my money. It also got me to say words I never imagined I would ever say: "I really like this Seiko Bracelet".
  3. Nomos Orion ref 386 - probably the closest thing to a 'perfect watch' for me. The 38mm case fits my 7.25in wrist quite better than the standard 35mm, and the Alpha movement is a joy to look at despite being Nomos entry level movement.

4. (in the back) - Built using SKX0013 mod parts, this one has a neat meteorite dial and lumed date wheel. I like it, but it may get sold before the end of the year.

5. The "I wish I had a Moser" watch, but the blue fume dial works well for now.

6. With the cushion case and scratched dial, probably the quirkiest watch I have. Fun to wear when I feel like "something different".

If you've read this far, I hope you enjoyed this little write-up!

You have a fantastic collection!

I have always wanted to mod my SKX but know I'd just eff it up, haha. I think if I modded my 013, I'd put a 12HR bezel and replace the glass with sapphire. But then again, I sorta wanna keep it original too... so I'd have to buy another one I guess, haha. Oh well.

Really really love the choice of models on the Nomos - its the model I've been looking at for so long but still vacillating between the 38 and 35 models. Part of me thinks I can possibly convince the wife it's a watch we could share with the 35 😂 - not exactly a bowling ball gift, right?

Great collection again and thanks for sharing - look forward to seeing how it evolves in 2022!

Hahaha thank you! Despite making me wish I had a Moser, it's still quite an enjoyable watch to wear

Thank you! Next time you're in the vicinity of a Nomos AD it'd probably be worth trying a couple on! Even if they don't have the exact reference you want, it really helps with getting to know the size and wrist presence of each one. Either way it's hard to go wrong with Nomos, if you pull the trigger I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
