My Current Everyday Watch Casioak

Hey! So, about the Casioak โ€“ I gotta admit, I'm a bit of an outlier here. Seems like most folks rave about its style but gripe about its functionality. But for me, it's perfection. Sure, it's subjective, but this watch ticks all the boxes for me, not just in looks and size but also in functionality.

Quick backstory: my journey into watch collecting started with a Casio Protrek PRW-3000 gifted to me. Wore that thing every single day for a solid decade, and never wore another watch during that time. Over that time, I got a real handle on what I need from a watch. And since moving on from that digital, I've developed a real fondness for analog โ€“ who knew, right?

So, what did I use my old digital buddy for? Well, timekeeping, obviously. But also low maintenance โ€“ solar charging and automatic time updates were lifesavers. Plus, the peace of mind knowing it could take a beating. The stopwatch was a godsend, too โ€“ way handier than a timer for everyday stuff. Alarms, date, world time โ€“ I never really used the world time for referencing time somewhere where I was not, so really just world time swapping was all I cared about. And now that I've made the switch to analog, I've realized I don't even need a stopwatch or timer anymore.

Now, onto the Casioak. Sure, I've heard the gripes about the screen being too small and hard to read. But for me, it's a non-issue. It's not just because of my vision, but because the features I prioritize don't necessarily rely on the screen. Keeping track of time passing, like using the stopwatch or timer, can be done with the analog display. Alarms and world time can be handled with the app. And even if I need other features that I do not use as much, I have that small display as a backup.

So, yeah, maybe it's not perfect for everyone. But for me, it's the real deal. Beats out those behemoth Mudmasters any day. And it strikes that perfect balance between rugged and refined โ€“ not too flashy, but not too plain either. And let's not forget about the size and weight โ€“ spot on.

Sorry for the novel, but I just had to share my two cents. For some folks, this watch is more than just a timepiece โ€“ it's a perfect fit, inside and out.

Love the two I have as well. I really wanted the solar but I didnโ€™t like how they changed the day of the weeks dial to functions. Enjoy
