Toothpaste makes miracles. Another watch from the inherited watches, a Soviet gold plated Raketa maybe from the 70s. It is said that my grandfather had a similar watch. This one laid in a box since I got it last Summer because it was quite dirty and I'm not a big fan of this style.
Since a few weeks ago I recognized how effective toothpaste is for cleaning - I cleaned an old crocodile shaped ashtray and a turtle jewelry box made by copper - I wanted to try it on watches. And this Raketa was a good candidate to practice. The result speaks for itself.
Of course the watch needs a proper service even the movement - a workhorse 2609HA - runs more than two days in a row. I'm not sure I would wear this Raketa even it looks prettier now. But I think I'll make a try with it some days, why not?

Very cool
I'd agree that this is in the interesting category more than the stylistically practical camp.
I liked mine but I could never see the minute hand. I gave it to my son.

I think my bigest complain about this Raketa is the dial. I admit that I'm not a big fan of gold tone watches but with this grey colour dial the whole thing looks a bit ugly and cheap. Perhaps if I change the strap it could look better, dunno.
In the case of yours I wouldn't be suprised if the hands were replaced. (Even there were plenty of variations of these TV case Raketas in the SU.)
