BB58 blue...

My buddy was kind enough to let me borrow his BB58 blue for a few days.  I have an OG 58 so I assumed this would just be a blue version of my watch, which it is but its also different.  It has a different feel to it... Its strange but the silver hands and accents seem to give it a slightly modern feel, but not modern day.  The gilt 58 has a 60's feel, the blue feels like it could have been my dads watch in the 80's.  Its hard to explain but it feels like more than a blue watch.

Interesting comparison. I favor the gilt myself. It might be the color that is throwing you off. For a while, I loved blue dial watches and was actively seeking them. I've found that depending on the style and design of the watch, a blue dial might date the watch and make it feel more like a gimmick. I totally get what you mean though. So, would you say the BB58 in blue is worth a buy?

I like the gilt myself too.   If I walked into a Tudor shop and tried them both on, I think it would be 50/50 on which I bought depending on my mood.  It could end up looking dated, but the old Tudor MN subs are still very nice and desirable.

The black and gilt with red accents comes off more “warm” to me, while the blue (as do most blue dial stainless watches) comes off more “cool”. For two identical watch, they do have a very different vibe.

Exactly.  I think they should have offered a bracelet with out rivets for the blue.  It could have been the modern version of the 58.

Even though they are effectively the same watch just in a different colorway, they do indeed come across as being very different. There is a "warmth" with the gilt version that isn't present with the blue version, but the blue version definitely has a "crisper and cleaner" more modern feel to it. One of the members of our local watch enthusiast group has the blue dial version, and every time I see it I seriously consider adding it to my collection, even though I already have the gilt dial version. If I hadn't bought mine when the gilt was the only BB58 option available, I would have had a helluva time deciding between them.

My son has the blue whilst I got the 925. His is a great watch though I’m really on the fence with the bracelet - great quality but I  find the rivets rather twee.

I wish the lugs were drilled to make changing out easier.

I’d  agree that the gilt feels more vintage. The other options all feel more contemporary.

Did it feel a bit clinical or without personality? I'm debating on getting this exact watch

Not without personality but kinda plain.  But thats not a bad thing and if you like blue its killer.
