HBD to me
This past year, I hit a personal milestone getting my dream job. Took a very long time to get to where I wanted to be in my career and I knew I wanted to get a watch to commemorate it when I got there. I think the idea of purchasing a watch for personal milestones came from seeing my parents buy their first luxury watch when they finally started their own business. My mom bought a Rolex Datejust and my dad bought an Omega Constellation. I have always loved these two brands just because mom and dad loved them and the brand made me think of them. When I got the job, I told my mom I was going to get a Rolex, just like her, but she graciously gifted me her 20 year old datejust to me instead (Also I couldn’t get my hands on one anyways haha). My dad’s Omega got passed down to my brother after my dad passed a couple years ago. I was considering an Omega but then, this shiny beauty caught my eye. I held it and it just felt so right but I still wanted that 37mm yachtmaster rhodium dial (The Knight King)… But the more I picked up the Santos, the more I realized the features that I loved and wanted from a Rolex was right in the Santos. It didn’t help (or did it?) that all of my youtube recommendations were Cartier Santos unboxings and advertisements of Cartier all around my newsfeed (should probably turn off my location). And so, in conclusion to this rambling, I made up my mind and picked it up on my birthday and drank a bottle of wine of my birth year to celebrate. Now I can join the Santos Sunday Crew! I know which wine I will be exploring next! Thank you for the suggestion. I was an avid new world Cabernet Sauvignon person until I had my first bottle of Opus One. I realized I’ve been missing out on what the French have already mastered… I’m new and currently focusing on Bordeaux region. Going slow and trying not to spoil my tastebuds too fast!
