Old Faithful

Whenever I put this BB58 back on after a week or two of not wearing it, I’m reminded of just how good it is. The proportions, the finishing, still the best bang for the buck out there in the entry level luxury field (IMO).

Agreed, I’ve been wearing mine all week!

It’s a beautiful thing

I agree! That's a lovely watch and it gives me a warm feeling when I'm wearing it.☺️

I can relate 100%!

Just put mine on after a long week. I literally had the same thought as you. The gilt, the size, the comfort… too good.

I have the Certina DS Action Diver, which has the same vibe with its own heritage, and have considered upgrading to this or the BB54 but I can’t rationalize the price increase. Why do you find this worth the price? Serious question.

My Certina (with a nice green strap for Spring):

Thanks for the honest question. My thoughts:

(1) Tone of Gilt: I find that 99% of the time, gilt watches look cheap. Something about the tone and quality of gilt used on the dial and bezel in the bb58 feels more premium.

(2) Dial Elements: From the applied markers to the handset, everything on the BB58 dial looks fantastic under a macro lens. Nothing revolutionary, just really well executed.

(3) Wrist Feel: The BB58 just seems to hug my wrist really well. It feels even thinner than it is, yet maintains a solid presence simultaneously.

(4) Red 12’Oclcok Triangle: This might seem like a small detail, but I find adds a ton of character.

(5) Crown and winding: winding the movement feels buttery smooth and the crown feels solid (I had a Zodiac Seawolf which I liked overall, but the crown action felt like cheap plastic).

Behind all of the above, there is the intangible felling you get when you actually try the watch on. If you haven’t yet, I recommend you do and let me know if you agree!
