I think because they got a bit flashy/carried away with the designs at some point (they’re now reverting) and also because they’ve used ETA movements for a long time on watches that were well over 2K. Maybe because they really leaned into smartwatches at some point too 😂

Thanks all for the comments, I don’t want to suggest the gift card or accessories because I don’t want to send the wrong message (eg ‘you can’t afford the watches I like’) so im leaning towards the Duro or something from the Edifice line. Thank god for Casio 🙏

I think they have some great designs and are a great entry level luxury option. IMO much of the snobbery is unjustified

Thanks all for the amazing tips, most of these I wasn’t aware of. I think the one that best fits the bill is the Vaer in terms of design (there’s an auto version too). Any other ideas are more than welcome
