I have an SPB143 and a BB58. The SPB is decent but the movement leaves a ton to be desired. Mine keeps terrible time for a $1K watch.
Much appreciated commentary.. Very insightful indeed. I also have to say the same.. BB is BB and spb is what it is. and i find it weird, they both feel the same on my wrist.🙃

Oh yeah they are both great watches, and my SPB gets worn more often. I was just a little soured on my spb since it has had some issues. I honestly might buy an ebay NE15 movement and just swap it. Haha.
My SPB147 is a nice watch but it has some growing up to do if it wants to justify its price or play in the big league.
One of the main reasons why so many watch fans love Seiko is price. The value proposition for these watches is clear, and a high degree of design and precision is put into every timepiece, even those that only cost a couple hundred bucks. Most models fall below the $1,000 mark, making them ideal entry-level watches.Even with so many different models on the market, Seiko is a consistently reputable, relatively affordable, and trusted brand that you can depend on for a solid wristwatch.

The SPB147 could have been a terrific deal at 600-700US$ or a good deal at 700-800US$. At 1000-1200US$ it doesn't compare favorably with other watches in this segment. Certainly not with the lack of attention to details, the alignment issues, and the type of movement it has. It's a good watch but it's not going to kill anything anytime soon.

The SPB147J1 takes its clear design cues from the iconic 62MAS. It is a reissue, and as such, doesn't need to be compared to a BB58 at all. Its uniqueness is to be appreciated as is, and the comparison is not apples to apples. Those who try to do so are just click bait, IMHO. Cheers and enjoy your timepiece, bud! 🍻

Siguro clickbait Sir, pero if you had xp on both watches, its surprisingly parehas ng pakiramdam pag sinuot, pero syempre you cannot compare, BB is BB and SPB is what it is sabi ko nga.

For me, I prefer the SPB. I like its dial, handset, baton indices, and its iconic case design. I don't like the BB because of its "snowflake" (which it is not; it's a square or diamond) hour hand, and its dot indices. But that's just my preference. To each his own. 😉
