I’ve never heard of a Zissou case back…is it engraved with some coloration?
Oh no need to know that, it was supposed to be fun fourth option. It's a Vostok caseback with Steve Zissou on it, it's the main character from a 2004 movie who wore a Vostok.

Ahh thanks for explaining! Lol I’ve never seen that movie before
I used to pretty much require a display case back, but I have come to prefer engraved or plain over time. I chose engraved here because a) it's a nice little secret between watch and wearer, and b) it tends to make the watch more comfortable in warm weather, in that it doesn't stick to the skin as much.

I win!

Close the poll it's over! 😁
A, B, or D are all good.
I chose plain because the engraving is seldom seen and usually the display case makes the watch thicker.

Given a choice, I want a display caseback. I don't care if the movement is plain or workaday, I want to see the workings of my watch.
I would like to see the effort, engineering, and art that goes into making the movement in my automatic/Mechanical watches.

My favorite case back is the Omega hippocampus.
If its a nicely finished movement i prefer a display. But if it is stock standard i would much rather have an engraved case back.
Only display if you've got something to display 😉
Well if it's on a NH35 based microbrand under 500€, I would go for a nice engraved caseback (Phoïbos 💪)
If you have an Octa from Journe, a One Hertz from Grönefeld, a Ferrier, a 321, a Seagull ST19 or anything good to look at, then go for the display !
Considering my bank account and the price range I purchase, I go for engraved and am pissed when seiko puts a display on a 7s26' Seiko5
Also: snap back, square notches, rounded notches, polygonal, individual screws, or grooved die?
