Bracelets should be like jeans - offered in skinny and straight leg versions.

I used to hate bracelets but Im coming around - whats changed?

Well turns out I like bracelets like, well, a bracelet - not a band that happens to be metal. Ive found that if I follow the old fashioned rules for wearing a bracelet (by modern standards a a little loose and jangly) I love what I previously hated.

I discovered this when I found that I love the exact same grand seiko bracelets that so many people hate AND that I love them for the the reason they hate them - the clasps. Sure GS clasps dont have fine adjustments but they are svelte, clean, and simply vanish on the wrist. Deployants OTOH (particularly those with on the fly adjustment mechanisms built in) are bulky, rigid and break up the visual beauty of the bracelet.

A particular thing I've found is that I can wear a slightly looser bracelet with a butterfly clasp when I'm working at a desk, especially when using a keyboard, whereas with a deployant I have to take the watch off.

Ok - Im absolutely not advocating that people wear bracelets like me, you want a close fitted bracelet and therefore need the bulk of a micro adjust clasp to solve the problems that causes - go right ahead.

My proposal is this, brands should offer watches on bracelets like they are selling jeans - slim (close fitted) cut and straight (a little loose) cut - choose your poison (or buy both). Slim fits come with deployants and micro adjust, straight cuts come with half links and butterflies.

I do not hate your suggestion, in fact it makes quite a bit of sense.

I can ONLY wear one jangly but then I sit and jangle it all day. I already flirt with RSI as it is, so i worry.

you are encouraging me to try my gs bracelet out a little loose. i took a half link off and now it’s a little tight, so i’ve been avoiding it on bracelet. going to try adding maybe a full link back (or just the half link) and embracing a more “jangly” fit than i usually do

I am old enough to remember when all bracelets pulled hair and hairy enough to care. Until a few years ago I didn't have any watches with bracelets and now I have several. My favorites are the ones with the butterfly clasps.

Bracelets have gotten better across all price points and in all styles. It is a nice trend.

As a self proclaimed single pass dude, I'm still a watch dude first.

And to that end some just do better with some jangly goodness OR a nice fitted quick adjust.

IFYKYK.

I had a similar experience with GS: hated the bracelet and sold it. Bought it again and love it.

I have come to realize I love steel bracelets but they need to taper. Can’t do the old SMP bracelets.

Hey, I am a weirdo that also likes the GS bracelets. Mainly because there is not a lot there. And you are right the trick with the bracelet is to wear it a little loose.

I am of the super tight fit bracelets, to the point where the watch doesn't move. However if I can't get it right with half links, that's also fine.

I am too, but I just can't get it to work for me. If I'm working with my hands, my wrist will swell enough that a properly fitting bracelet cold will be too tight, and if I wear it loose to compensate for swelling, it slides down to my hand and gets stuck when my wrist bends back, which can get really painful if you're working on stuff. I'm pretty much a strap only person at this point.

Yeah, I understand. Thankfully I think due to my work not being very active, it's not been a big issue.
