Erebus Ascent

  • Just ordered an Erebus Ascent from Jody at Juat 1 More watch and now I’m feeling an evolution in my watch collecting journey. For context…I’ve had some bumpy roads but persevered and am now in a position to meet all my life goals and still afford a Rolex. I put my name on the “wishlist” and call every few weeks to see if the Explorer has arrived. In the meantime I’ve purchased a few microbrands that I am absolutely loving. The quality, style….everything….i love wearing them. Looking at the video for the Ascent….beautiful looking watch….i no longer feel that overspending on a Rolex makes any sense….even if i can afford it. With some consideration and piecing numbers together, I feel I’d be willing to pay around $6g for the Explorer. The delta just seems to be for luxury cache which I could care less about. Especially when microbrands and brands like Longines & Hamilton are putting out such great watches….i’ll reserve judgement until I get the Ascent but if it’s as good as it looks…Jody may have just ruined me from Rolex forever.

Great post. I was looking at the Black Helix. What did you end up choosing?

IMO Jody and Co have nailed it with this one.

I like the Ascent more than the Origin. All the coloways look great. Judging only from his video the lume seems to be fantastic. Nothing groundbreaking but good design. It might be the best in the price point. But I still like the Formex Essence your wearing in the photo better.

In life there are always trade-offs and being prudent with hard-earned money is rarely the wrong choice, especially when there are viable alternatives.

Not quite on the Rolex scale but I have been sniffing around Seiko’s SARB line up for some time but have delayed owing to the crazy prices that are now being asked for these.

The Ascent certainly looks like it could “scratch that itch” so I am looking forward to the other online reviews and will likely pick one up.

Hope it works out for you too.

Thank you….i have a Sarb17 and although it’s quirky I love it….the green just plays with the sun…I bought for $600 about 3 years ago and then they went up. I put different straps on it..and it looks great but I wouldn’t pay more than $700 for it.
