Longines Flagship Heritage Moonphase: Finally.

Longines has been on a roll for awhile, but there was always something that was amiss with a particular release (at least for me). I think they've finally arrived...damn.

Longines watches are culled from a massive catalogue of extremely desirable models, however not every enthusiasts want watches that are nostalgic tokens that return the buyer back to a past era, for her or him that era has no relevance never existed. A 70 year old might tear up listening to Jen Rush’s Power of Love while his grandson doesn’t get the mood. That is a criticism that I hear a lot from sellers of the brand today. I recently sourced a black PVD iteration of the Legend Diver which is a itch that I wanted to scratch but honestly I would have paid a few hundred more if the company bean counters could have billed me more for a watch that feels a little more luxurious. That is just my opinion a factor that is an mental obstacle for wanting more.

Dayuuum! I love it! Longines to me tends to drop the ball in the most odd places.

For example, the spirit was awesome, but at 40mm it was a little large. Then they fixed it with 37, but you lose the screwdown crown.

Then again with the new conquest. Awesome looking piece, but only available in 40 or 34, no midsize!

This Flagship Heritage at 38.5 with a moonphase is perfection! I felt that the standard flagship heritage at 38.5 had too much free dial space, it wasn't busy enough for how much dial there was. The moonphase doesn't take up more space, but it does add visual interest in a classy way.

Homerun!

Every time I say moonphase isn't for me, someone posts this watch and I have to rethink it. That dial is so well balanced...

·

Really like these. But to be fair the dial looks almost exact copy of JLC ultra thin moonphase.

·

Oh my, look at that lovely blue dial

To be fair, the base version of this watch has been out for years and the design language without the new complication predates the JLC MUT Moon. Longines pretty much just added the moonphase complication and central seconds to the Flagship Heritage design - which is largely based on an old model from the archives.

My wife and I were dining with a fella who was handsome, wealthy worldly, his family remains a force in the watch industry( according to ads who know him), during an awkward moment of silence my wife demanded to know how he stayed single? I never believed his answers that he was too busy with his business. He said a moon was not romantic instead reminded him of a watch complication. The lies we tell ourselves!

Sounds like he plays it close to the vest. Was his name Claude Mariposa?

No! Our friend was sadly still of a generation of men who could not walk freely in public( in his own mind) with another man who shared his bed. My daughters adored him, he admitted that he had no experience with young children. My wife was always trying to match him up with lovely strangers. One day we spotted him with a fella in a blue blazer that was definitely not a financial analyst. Fine fine man.

People talking about longine heavy now

Are they on there way up?

·

Beautiful watch.

·

I really want to like this but find that the thickness at 12.4mm a bit much for a "dressier" watch. A thickness of 10mm or less would've been a very hard proposition to pass up.

It’s probably the goal at Swatch with Omega moving up. However, I think the sheer number of interesting releases from Longines (and Hamilton for that matter) over the more recent years probably has more to do with it.

·

Longines is sort of going in the right direction but they always seem to just miss something. Like this watch, with 19mm lugs, why? And why is the sapphire crystal clearance so deep to the dial? This is contributing to a much thicker watch. Its close, but not enough for me to pull the trigger.

I like it too, but am I the only one who doesn't like that they have to put "flagship" on their flagship?

Seems redundant to me, idk.

Agree.

Also, "Flagship" with an ETA movement🙄. I don't understand why this reputable brand doesn't step up its game.

·

They are amazing!!!

·

I like this release a lot. Reminds me of the master collection moonphase

·

Like many of their offerings but the long lugs ain't helping.

Longines offers some of the most underrated watches in the market. They are simply the best value for the money spent.
