NICU thoughts #1 - 10 Minutes

Time taken to devour a meal.

Time taken to shower.

Time taken to drive to work.

Time taken to set up.

Time taken for baby to transition from the warmth of mother's womb to the cold outside world.

My second daughter was born in 9.  Its frantic, important work you do.

I prefer the adults, but I'm glad others have to fortitude to help them become adults.

As one who helps adults through their ‘timed events’, I salute you who help usher new lives in.

Thank you, it's humbling very every day, every new person I get to meet. Wishing you and your family the very best.

Thank you, adults are just bigger versions of children... no? 😂 Thank you for taking care of the adult side of 18!

It's been a tough but very rewarding rotation, thank you for being there for the bigger patients!

Nice! Peds rotation is nice All depends which hospital you are rotating…unfortunately, been in a few hospitals in my life as a consultant that it’s not always the case…

My life experiences I think made me cynical and a disbeliever … but weirdly optimistic and hopeful… I sure hope you carry on with this romanticism of medicine all throughout your career…

Ah, Peds should be a stressful but fun rotation. I think I became borderline diabetic eating so much candy and sweets that month. Solid work and solid watch.

I think I'd say I'm a realist, not quite cynical as my teenage self thought.

It's been my motto to remember that this might be the worst day of someone's life, having to meet me.

And I agree, I thought I'd never be able to do peds because of my experiences at my alma mater, but my own experiences as a GP changed my mind.

Thank you for the comment 😊

Rotation at NICU has been a tough but very rewarding experience. On one hand I can't wait to go back to "normal" peds, on one hand I'm really going to miss this place!

I also am amassing quite a sticker collection, on top of a lot of weight 😂
