I’ve had all the above. Ended up sticking with the fluted/jubilee combo in green. Sold the blue smooth and my mate took the blue fluted.
I just find the fluted/jubilee the most striking. The light play off the bezel, dial and bracelet in amazing. I have the oyster bracelet in a safe but honestly don’t think I’ll ever actually use it.

Class! Especially the fluted jubilee green dial. If you’re ever selling that I’d be very interested!
I actually prefer a smooth bezel to a fluted. However, if you're buying a Datejust you have to buy one with a fluted bezel, it's one of the most iconic watches in history & that's down to the bracelet & bezel combination.
No disrespect to the fluted tradition, but I much prefer the smooth. To me, 1) looks more finished & refined. And 2) The fluted bezel always looked like a mechanical gear to me. Was that intentional?
3 weeks?! I’m based in London, how about you? I’ve been waiting 4 months
I’m a Londoner too. Yeah I guess I must have just got lucky. I actually put myself down for the green palm dial about 6 months prior. Didn’t visit or speak to my SA as wasn’t interested in buying anything.
Anyway summertime decided it was time to treat myself so popped in and had a good catch up with him. And then 3 weeks later he called me!
Btw my AD is WoS in Canary Wharf. Ask for Nick if you do visit. Great guy.

Fluted all the way! Have it in oyster, but also picked up a jubilee bracelet to switch up the look.

Thank you. I don’t plan on ever selling so you’d have to offer me some silly money!

Don’t blame you, it’s a class piece I’d never sell myself! Hopefully the AD will come though within the next decade

My AD got this for me within 3 weeks of enquiring. I bought the jubilee separately as he only had it on an oyster bracelet.
Where are you based?
Tiffer is right, on this specific watch I think the fluted is the correct version, put a plain bezel on and it looks like just another watch.
That being said, I really dislike that style of bezel so it's never been a watch for me.
A Datejust with a smooth bezel might was well just be an OP Date. I should hate it as it is an obsolete feature, but it seems wrong without it.
Gotta be fluted!!

Fluted jubilee or just get the OP if you are going to go smooth and save a few $$$.

Fluted is too flashy for me. Garish even.
